If you hadn't noticed over the past year or two, Gamespot has had a (mostly) strange trend of rating Nintendo's games well below the average mark with only occasional exception (Bayonetta 2 comes to mind).
Well, it took nearly a week but Gamespot has provided us with another exception! :D

"As long as I'm playing in Splatoon's World, I'm a happy camper."
He gave it an 8/10 which, by Gamespot standards, is fairly remarkable. If you were still on the fence about whether or not to purchase it, now is the time to hop off! :)
Splatoon seems fairly well settled into 81 on metacritic now which, when you consider it seems to have almost universally lost 10% or more from all the reviews for lacking voice chat, really speaks to just how fun the admittedly limited (for the moment) amount of content is.
...and yes, I'm certainly joking about any Gamespot-Nintendo conspiracy. I rather enjoy their reviews.
*Edit* As I said I'm mostly joking, and Gamespot's reviews are usually fairly close to average. Still, just for fun here's a list of some of the more perplexing reviews, some of which were the lowest of all available reviews, that helped them develop this reputation among Nintendo fans:
ZombiU: Metacritic 77, Gamespot 45 (lowest of all reviews)
DKC Tropical Freeze: Metacritic 83, Gamespot 60 (lowest of all reviews)
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse: Metacritic 73, Gamespot 50 (very nearly the lowest of all reviews)
Shovel Knight: Metacritic 88, Gamespot 70 (lowest of all reviews)
Still, the really off ones are the exception rather than the norm. If there's anyone who seems routinely unfair it's "Giant Bomb" :p
