Someone mentioned DR3 here. All I hope is for (a hopefully!) DR4 to fix the mess that DR3 caused.

What mess? I think the game was very good and it reviewed well.

The terrible story that broke the established canon and gave half-assed explanations in pivotal moments of the game, the lack of a charming place like the market or the casino (why they didn't implement one into the city is beyond me), the fact that the timer makes no sense, as it doesn't work as an indicator of what you are supposed to do and instead it is just an annoying time limit that it's simply there because the other games have them (the developer failed to realize why there was a time constrain in the first place as far as the segmented gameplay structure of Dead Rising goes), the lack of scorting missions because now survivors save themselves aside from some very few, and overall the big sense of disapointment to see one beloved franchise being treated terribly because Capcom Vancouver really lacked direction here and just made an excuse to put many interesting, funny and enjoyable ways to dispatch thousands of zombies without any thought at all of how to keep an engaging narrative, characters and sequences that the player could care about.
At least the bosses battles are pretty good.
