If I am not mistaken, Square Enix is not doing it because they hate the console, but because they are specifically waiting for FFXV's release AND DirectX12's rollout. The whole point is seeing if the players of their largest, genre busting, S ranked mammoth RPG and pet project warrant ports. Unlike Bamco, they'd rather try to release everything on as many platforms as they can fund. If FFXV sells close to what FFXIII (2.6 million lifetime in the 360, half the PS3 sales) then they'll start releasing games again. I do remember that the 360 itself was pretty much barren until Square Enix announced the deal to release the game on the console.
Odds are, if it sells 200,000+ on the XONE, companies will start mass porting later on...

I think there is a fairly decent JRPG fanbase on Xbox but they are only interested in quality JRPG's not the stupid moe fanservice games that try to call themselves JRPG's that plague modern times and even the PS4 hasn't really got a quality JRPG yet either. FFXV looks likely to be the first of the gen and thats 2.5 years+ into the gen which is sad :(
