343 seems to have a clear understanding of what they are aiming for this time. Halo 4 multiplayer released in a way, like they were testing the water to see what worked and what didn't. Now they know what the fans want.

Actually, it more than likely will. Sony at E3 and gaming media was very specific in saying Firewatch 'console debut' on PS4.

Take this from an indie dev, but that doesn't mean anything one way or another about a future XBOX version.

Always best to just go with the info we have now and adjust if the devs announce anything new.

The devs have strongly suggested it's a timed PS4 exclusive. When somebody asked one of the devs on Twitter if it was coming to XB1, the dev specifically said it's a console debut, not a console exclusive, which is marketing talk for, "It's a timed exclusive but our contract with Sony prevents us from outright saying it will come to XB1 in the future".

That's not marketing talk. Indies very rarely do BS like that, and Sony doesn't do indie deals like that.

The most likely situation is that the devs just don't know if an XBO release will happen yet. It takes additional resources to do a port and Microsoft has a policy where late ports usually need additional content. They could be in the middle of talking with Microsoft about the specifics of the parity clause and if they could get an exception, or they could be waiting for sales numbers before deciding what do to. Either way all they're doing at the moment is keeping their options open.
