I will play mostly on PC next gen and don't really need Anaconda for the best graphics and stuff so I may not buy it but a cheaper Lockhart for my bedroom sounds not too bad.

I can also see Lockhart to be successful as second console for Nintendo/PS console owners If the price is right and MS's studios release a good stream of quality games. Could be especially for Switch owners the much better choice than a more expensive PS5 to play all the games not on Switch

Edit: it's page 1111 for me! 😉

I voted no because unless something really bad happens in my life that affects me financially then I will be buying Scarlett day 1.

Pretty much this.

But at the end of the day, these are the answers we mostly have to expect from gaming enthusiasts on a gaming forum. Even the people here who are tight on money, are going to want the more powerful hardware, because all things being equal...of course that's what they want. The purpose of Lockhart, if it's to actually hit the market, is to be a compelling product to casuals, parents looking to get a console for their kids but save a few bucks doing so, kids saving up meager allowances to buy their own console, and perhaps it can be an enticing product to people looking to set up their home with multiple Xboxes (a Scarlett for their living room/main gaming area, and a couple of Lockharts for the bedrooms or something).

Agreed I still like the concept of Lockhart and feel that it will do well especially overseas (outside of the US).

I’ve also been holding off on getting the Switch because I’m waiting to see if they will announce a “Switch Pro” next year so if that happens I will be spending a ton of cash on games and consoles next year.

Yeah basically if your interested enough in gaming to be posting on gaming forums and talking about gaming on "anti" social media then Lockhart isn't aimed at you but for someone who plays a couple of annual games per year or a parent buying for their kids seeing a $299 Xbox Two against a $499 PS5/Anaconda it will take most the mindshare.

I'm still not convinced that it's actually a weaker console tbh we have seen so many on/off rumours about this thing it wouldn't surprise me if it's just a next get SAD Edition.

Voted no on the poll. Even though I don't have a 4K monitor yet and don't plan to get one in the next few years, and therefore don't really need a 4K console like Anaconda, I'm not convinced that Lockhart with the rumored specs (4 tflop and considerably less RAM) will be able to output the same graphics as Anaconda even at 1080p, let alone the 1440p target that MS is giving developers. Also, Lockhart seems to be digital only, and I like to rent physical games through Gamefly, so unless MS comes up with some kind of well priced digital rental service that can compete against Gamefly, I will not be switching to a digital only console anytime soon.

You know PC has been doing this for years, why do you believe with both the next PS and Xbox console would not be the same.  Meaning that if Lockhart is running the same CPU and GPU but with less ram, then why would this system not run everything at a lower resolution.

Personally like others have stated, do not believe the target audience for Lockhart is people who actually spend time on web sites talking about games and hardware.  It for the same people who today goes out and purchase an Xbox S or PS4 because of price.  With today's game engines, not being able to include all the graphical features within the system less the frame rate and resolution seems plausible.

I do believe 4TF is probably not going to be the released specs for this device if it does launches, it will be closure if not at the same specs as the Xbox X probably having half the memory of Scarlette with no disc drive, download only so it can come in hundred bucks cheaper than the main console.

If the specs are the same, I'd buy the discless version. A vast majority of my games are digital and with GamePass being so amazing, I don't need physical games. The only time I've went physical this gen are dirt cheap special sales, like $10 Shadow of War, etc. If the specs are much different and it's weaker, I'll pass.

I believe if MS does come out with something like Lockhart, they will put it through a battery of test. One of the tools MS has is their diagnostic pipeline tools where they can measure exactly where the bottleneck in a game compared to the hardware and code. Probably using a game like the next Halo, MS would be able to see how much memory, CPU and GPU specs are needed to successfully run such a game at lower resolutions but still be able to run with all the bells and whistle enabled. At least this would be my hope since MS does have this capability. We really do not know what the hockhart system will launch at if it does come to market and right now speculations and rumors really doesn't mean anything until we get hard info from MS. I also believe 4TF is probably to weak but a 6TF along the same lines as the X but with better GPU and CPU would allow the system to do what MS is looking for.

Is Morgoth on Era the Gears Leaker or is it some other user?

If Lockhart will be 4.x and Anaconda 10 tf, a resolution reduction alone should be enough to play 4k games with 1440p on Lockhart.

Achieving 1080p should be only a problem if it's exactly 1440p on Anaconda but I don't see devs to achieve only 1440p on Anaconda.

And every freaking game has options on PC to lower some settings. Just a small shadow quality reduction should be enough IF Lockhart couldn't reach 1440p while Anaconda is at 4k.

I think people think way too much about possible problems.

The CPU just needs to be good enough.

It's MS's Chance to sell more consoles early to get more people on the Xbox train and that's their chance.
