Well I just hope that E3 Microsoft can show that they want to release more and more console exclusives. Philly Spencer on twitter has been talking up their first party and how they are proud of what they have for E3. Hope it's not just all talk and would be great if they deliver.

Its a good release to put on steam and also nice people who didn't get the ultimate edition can still get the game, also a good game to put in a games with gold at some point ^^

Lol didnt they announce arena last e3? Took a year to get it ready.
The party overlay feature is a great addition.

Hopefully Halo Wars 2 is next and I'm still hoping ReCore Definitive Edition releases before E3 or maybe June-July and also gets a Steam Port.

Make Sunset Overdrive 4K for Scorpio, Play Anywhere with Win 10 and stick it on Steam too.

Then what would be the point of Windows Store if all games will eventually release on Steam?

I can be wrong but they said that this feature would be available in Spring 2017 when they were talking about it at E3

Windows Store clearly isn't working, I'm not saying they should put all their exclusives on Steam but just the ones that need that extra boost and haven't received good sales on XB1/Win10

ReCore flopped and I doubt Halo Wars 2 has done that good on Windows Store, Sunset Overdrive could also benefit from a boost in players for a possible future sequel.

They can still keep their heavy hitters that sell well no matter what exclusive to Windows Store like Halo, Gears and Forza (Mainline Entries) whilst offering Windows Store incentives such as Play Anywhere and whatever else they come up with.

Though most likely Microsoft doesn't give a crap how well their games are selling and just want to push Windows 10 as a whole.

They did.

The problem here is that I don't think that Steam will boost sales that much. It just doesn't seem that PC gamers care about Xbox games enough. Also putting games on Steam can increase sales but will it increase profit remains a question. Windows Store has console prices which is another reason why PC gamers don't like it. Games on Windows Store are more expensive than on Steam usually. Windows Store doesn't have regional prices, -90% sales and so on. But I still think that it can be a good idea to put the games on Steam if is done properly. MS really can have some benefits from it but they just need to do the following:

1) The games should use Steam only as a distribution platform. Integrate Xbox Live into Steam games so they will use Xbox Live servers for multiplayer instead of Steam. Sync achievements and so on. The same way they did with Minecraft on mobile devices. You download Minecraft from App Store and then login to your Xbox Live profile in the game itself. This will allow crossplay with Xbox One something that MS is trying to push (unified Windows platform across all the devices) but Steam games unfortunately lack this thing.

2) This unfortunately is highly unlikely. Make a contract with Valve to have the ability to link Xbox Live account to Steam so all Microsoft Studios games that are published on Steam will be available on Xbox One (Play Anywhere).

By having Halo Wars on Steam and Windows store, Microsoft has split the multiplayer player base. And the game is already desperate for population, so that is sad to see.

Yes. That's why they should use XBL servers in Steam games as well. Valve also will benefit from this that they will save their servers for some other games

The good thing is that they are trying to win back developers and the Scorpio really does a great job for developers. Also the play anywhere feature and game pass services are not bad for developers, getting a share of pc sales from the same game and a share of the game pass sales while reducing the pre-used market by offering digital value.

Sure they don't have a ton of games but by just cheaking this year, path of exile, cities skylines, state of decay, sea of thieves, crackdown, forza and smaller titles like voodoo vince and fable cardgame, hey, thats not a bad list !

Anyway they have to start somewhere and they did that the last few years and even tough they clearly havn't won back the big percentage of the market they have supported their device well and offer a better experience in software- features and games every year.

I will just own both consoles and be super happy but the direction Microsoft is heading is very exciting to me and I think there is a big chance other people will see it at some point.

They have to start somewhere is denial that Microsoft has had an exclusive identity problem since they joined the console industry. They do everything else very well. Everything that has nothing to do with games. State of decay will resonate with PC and XBox gamers more than crackdown will, thats for sure. Crackdown will need to be good, because now its coming out when Microsofts marketshare is smaller. They need a heavy hitting IP before Sony drops their avalanche of exclusives. Trust me...it hasnt even begun yet. Im sure you remember the PS3 era. Exclusives out the wazoo.

You say that brand recognition is the reason why Sony closed an eight million console gap. Sony was bleeding money when they dropped the price of the PS3 to be competitive with the 360. Even then Microsoft had exclusives droughts and Sony after 2009 was dropping exclusives like an avalanche on Microsoft from the east and the west. Microsoft had the door open to the east and failed to blast the doors open because they didn't have enough eastern content to sate the hunger of people over there and Sony destroyed everyone with new ips. Again... more diverse games .... more Eligible consumers. microsoft is trying to be Sony by trying to beat them with the format they've championed and almost died for while Microsoft was using hd DVD against them. They will find they are playing the wrong game. This little battle will pass. Wait and see. You don't win wars on console with a hollow vessel that's more powerful and costly. Sony beat Nintendo in a lasting manner by becoming the standard for third party relationships, whilst having exclusives of their own. The fomat change...completely changed everything.

What you're on about? Microsoft opened the door to the East with their checkbooks and still Japan didn't embrace them with the "avalanche" of their own JRPGs, JRPGs exclusive from Namco, Square etc...

It was never about games, MS couldn't go on by handing them over money while their games were not helping them out. After 2009, Kinect and its games  were the hottest things in the market and Microsoft rightfuly capitalized on that.

Microsoft is trying to cater to an audience and there's nothing wrong with trying to show the value of their box and try to attract users to it. Nintendo is using SD cards, are they also trying to get in format war with Sony?

And what are you guys on about empty vessel? You can play any Western 3rd party game on Scorpio, additionally exclusives you can only find on Xbox. Just because the box doesn't have as much Japanese games as PlayStation, doesn't mean it doesn't have games.

The persecution complex is really played out man.

Microsoft didnt have any avalanche of anything in Japan. They did have some tales games and multiplats, but few key Japanese exclusives compared to Sony.

It will always be about games. The first mistake of discerning the difference between PC gamers and console gamers, and that console gamers buy consoles for accessibility to the wide ranging games and customer support, exclusivity, simplicity and its less costly. Exclusives tell the story about the identity of the console. Microsofts identity  after over fifteen years is that they are the Gears, Forza and Halo box. Rinse and repeat. How can you woo Japan if you cannot master western games?

Thres no persecution problem either. If you think I am joking, check the media. Its all around you. Everyones saying the Scorpio will not help Microsoft because they've always been the worst at making exclusive games. High level exclusives and an affordable price are What helped Sony beat their competiton in almost all generations. Its Why the PS3 caught up to the Xbox 360 and it is why Sony is outselling the Xbox One 2:1. The only company that could actually do battle with Sony in exclusives if they could get their issues straight with third party is Nintendo.

In truth, I want Microsoft to be competitive with Sony because if they do we as Xbox owners win. Simple. Problem is they refuse to be serious about working on in house first party ips that represent their mission statement as a company.
