Forums - Gaming - Is twitch a fad?

I just recently made a twitch account to see what it was all about. It just seems to be people playing games and accepting subscriptions and donations. Why would you donate to something like this? It's also funny watching pre-teens go all gaga over these female gamers and donating money left and right. Do people possibly do this full time and not have to work? I guess it depends on if your an attractive female gamer. Why do people like this so much? I admit it can be entertaining in small doses, but most of the time it just becomes all about those subs and donations, instead of actually playing the game. It's worse with female streamers, especially this user called Kaceytron. It's like some WB drama with her channel. Like a train wreck that you can't look away from. Twitch is just basically a video streaming social media service, that's probably going to die out in a few years. opinions? thoughts?

The guys are usually more funny and popular, but there are some popular girls. I do find it weird when people donate a lot of money. But there are billions of people in the world, so who knows who is doing it.

You got it all wrong.. The question should be: Why wouldn't you like to see sexy me playing a video game?

It's an alternative, more illustrative means of obtaining impressions about games. That's the crux of a lot of the appeal. As opposed to a reviewer telling you about their experience, you see the experience. The other side is the entertainer aspect, where a streamer is a comedian or commentator. It's just another form of that kind of entertainment.

Kaceytron... now I see where you've gone wrong -___-
Honestly its like watching Lets Play (something I love doing) while being able to interact with the one playing live. Of course the channels I watch are rather small so what I say is more often then not read by those its aimed towards. Of course donating and subbing is totally optional and those I watch arent beggers which is always nice
