It's not even remotely the same thing. It would be if there was a safe way to consume cocaine or heroin, and if people could manifest some at any time they pleased in their own home without anyone being able to tell whether they had used any at all in spite of the great risk of using it.
This is a health issue. If you want to permit an abortion in a situation where the child is endangering the mother's life, how do you justify refusing one to women who will endanger their own lives to get rid of that child?
