It's not even remotely the same thing. It would be if there was a safe way to consume cocaine or heroin, and if people could manifest some at any time they pleased in their own home without anyone being able to tell whether they had used any at all in spite of the great risk of using it.

This is a health issue. If you want to permit an abortion in a situation where the child is endangering the mother's life, how do you justify refusing one to women who will endanger their own lives to get rid of that child?

I am personally strongly anti-abortion, but I strongly believe that the state should allow it.

Yes lets force the woman to undergo a procedure in which she does not want to have, good idea..  The Woman rights trump that of the zygote because she is the one who made it and has every right to decide it's fate.  Take your big governent idea's and leave them in the past.

In real life you screw up you have a chance to redeem, but not to retcon the fact... so yep, if you got pregnant because of a sillyness don't discount that on the baby.

I say a simple solution is to permit one early in pregnancies. Don't allow doctors to perform an abortion past a certain point. "Accidental" miscarriages won't be common because women who absolutely know they don't want that baby will get the abortion as soon as possible. This is an unfortunate, even tragic scenario no matter how you spin it, but the alternative is far worse.

There are still problems, as I'm sure I've heard stories about clinics delaying a patient's appointment so long that the abortion became illegal. That kind of nonsense has to be avoided.

Getting pregnant accidently is having sex without the intention of getting pregnant and you do. Wether it's using contraception or not.

Again, it's not a living baby. Psychologically we know it's not, and scientifically we only class it as a living human being once it can survive outside of the host (mother) which we then cap it and say "no you cannot have an abortion now you've waited too long it's a human being". 

Yep... the guy never intended to use heroin... he got addicted because he was breathing the air that had someone using heroin.

Personal Opinion: Pro Life. If it was my would be kid, I would probably be haunted for the rest of my life. Should be on a case by case basis though.

Societal Opinion: In the grand scheme of things I think very differently though. As the Earth can only support a certain amount of people, I think contraception should be the best thing to prevent overpopulation. western countries already do this for the most part but poor African and Asian countries really need to try harder. Abortion is a secondary measure, but I do not agree morally. Lastly if a pair has particularly "good genes" then I do not think they should have an Abortion. For example say a persons genes fight Cancer 50% better then most, I would certainly want to save the kid.

Suicide is not illegal, but assisted suicide is. I guess that's just a fancy phrase for murder though. Anyway suicide sucks because then your life insurance policy won't kick in. Much better idea to make your suicide look like an accident.... oh wait I think we just had this discussion.

I don't care much about drugs. There isn't really any moral reason they should be illegal, as far as I can see. Some are extremely dangerous and harmful though. The simplest solution would probably to make them legal, then tax the shit out of them. Regulate them and then make it impossible for anyone to actually buy them.

Maybe that wouldn't work, what do I know about economics. I guess things wouldn't really change, they'd still be sold for cheap on the black market.
