Forums - Gaming Discussion - Wii U version of Project CARS facing troubles, likely cancelled

Well, "maybe" Slightly Mad Studios should grow a pair and say a clear YES or NO to the WiiU version, and stop acting like fools.

It's doing them more harm than good.

Please excuse my bad English.

"By vote of the members, it changed to a boxed product PC/Xbox 360/PS3 and ‘maybe Wii U’ game. It was always ‘maybe’ as we had no knowledge of the system.

It was again changed, by vote of the members, to a PC/Xbox One/PS4 next gen game with still ‘maybe Wii U’ and Steam OS. The funding, as I said above, was closed long before this.

We still haven’t given up on Wii U 100% but if we can’t make it work we will move to the next Nintendo machine."

thats pretty much a NO. They will never bring the game to wii u after saying this.

I don't want to be nasty but who planned to buy this game on Wii U?

But that's the problem, they are giving rather vague messages like this one that hints to a NO without actually saying it.

A simple yes or no would put this stupid debate to an end. Now they just seem afraid to say no, which is ridiculous.

Hahaha that poll reflects reality even less than UK polls did reflect the election result.

I refuse to believe there is a huge crowd of Sim Racer hungry users just dying for a game on Wii U. It seems far more likely that Nintendo websites sniffed the chance to get a 3rd party game and sent all their users to tick Wii U.

The simple truth is, this would have struggled to muster up tens of thousands of sales on Wii U.

The arguments just don't stack up for me. People are upset because Nintendo users have been denied a chance to play the game now. Yet evidence of previous 3rd party releases shows that there isn't an audience there wanting to play the games on Wii U. It would have been a late port, which is used as justification not to buy a game on Nintendo. It would have been inferior in every way to the other versions, which is used as a justification not to buy a game on Nintendo. Newsflash, if you only have a Wii U, it doesn't matter how gimped or late a port is, it's still the only way you can play that game. So if you really wanted it, you'd still buy it.

Then we're led to believe that SMS have cut off a huge chunk of their potential audience? Pretty much anyone wanting this game would have already had access to it on PC, PS4 or XB1, because this is where the audience for this genre of game lies.

This was the real reason PS3 games sold well despite being inferior to the Xbox 360 versions. They still wanted the game, and didn't have a 360 and so had to "settle" for the inferior version.

yeah you might be right. As far as i do know this was a official poll from SMS.

On the other hand ps and xbox do have forza and driveclub/gt but wii u have nothing so it might sell a bit. im not interested in that game though

The GameCube had a few proper racing games on it that didn't seem to do much of anything especially compared with the other console versions. I agree that the lack of competition could work in it's favour, but at the same time, it also means the audience that are more likely to take a punt on the game don't own the hardware.

The newest Mario kart for the Wii U, is the best of the series by along shot.
Its basically the only "must have" game the Wii U has atm (imo you cant own a wii u and not have it).

So how will its sales be on a system where most already own a great racer? and its has mario in it....

I dont think the game would have sold that well on the Wii U anyways, so probably no big loss for the developers.

Mario Kart is more of a party game. Certainly nowhere near the same sort of realm as simulation racers are. It's a completely different market. How well did Need for Speed do on Wii U? One of the best arcade racers of all time.
