Forums - Gaming Discussion - Wii U version of Project CARS facing troubles, likely cancelled

Not to mention the indie scene on Nintendo is really big. Come on, now. You think so much indie games come to Wii U to lose money?

A major part of the problems Wii U has are Nintendos faults or based on the mistakes they made.

And have you ever looked at e-shop charts. Theres hardly ever an indy game in the higher ranks. Most of the time only virtual console and first party. Plus more and more devs quitting Wii U development because they hardly sell.

As for the game, if it is technically to ambitious for hardware that weak, who relly wants a port that downgraded?

1. Mariokart 8 follows a simple artstyle. Not much is going there. Plus the game isnt that good looking.

2. Game like project cars aka "realistic" games have lots of complex things going on. It needs a lot of processing power. Plus the weather system or other things needs a lot of work.

As for mariokart 8 digital foundy report It runs at super smooth 60 fps. But has no anti alising. Just look at the jaggies and textures.

Yeah to be honest i dont care about aa and co. Still thinking mk8 looks georgius but thats kind ot opinion because i like the art style

in terms of realistic racing game

vs

This game look good in my opionion and its 30 fps. I wouldnt had any problem with pCars looking like this... Dont think it looks much better on xbox one or ps4 though (yeah im like the opposite of an graphics whore i know).

But all in all im not interested in the pcars at all so i really dont care^^

Good thing i sold my wiiu 6 months ago. On my new ps4, all runs fine....

Yes, is THAT good loocking. Playt it first.
No antialiasing, and what?, give us a Project Cars without AA, we have no problem with that!

Unfortunately its probably not coming to Wii U. Nintendo is very conservative in this regard otherwise they might have send engineers to help. Plus this tells how expensive the game development is. Too much money is involved. And nobody wants to have a bad reputation and poor sales after spending lots of development resorces.

Yup, sadly I have to agree on everything with you here.

A lot of bitching in those comments. But what did people expect? Running 2 GB or RAM and a strange architecure, plus a CPU and GPU similar to that of the 360! Also; fact is, 3rd parties aren't selling on the Wii U. And owners have themselves to blame. If this fails, I think any sequels will be scraped from Nintendo consoles. And as for NX, its doomed from the start (if its a home console). 3rd parties aren't going to go back to nintendo because of new hardware. And if Project Car's devs are having problems, send in a team of people from nintendo to help (just like Microsoft did with a few games). But with Nintendo, so subborn, they'll run themselves into the ground before they realise their mistakes, and it'll be their fault.

Why are wii u owners to blame? It's third party games job to create compelling software to sell. And they have failed that on wii u. What the hell do you expect from wii u owners. For us all to line up for games that run at 20 fps and missing content in the other system. How can you say it's our fault if we don't want to buy gimped ports if there is a better version out for the 360 or ps3. Which must wii u owners already have I bet.

Because your not buying the games!!!! Then you expect sequels. And with the Wii U architecture, you have to almost build games from the ground up (otherwise you get games that are worse than a 360 and ps3 verson).!!! This costs lots of money, and if you can't get the money, you'll go to the PS and Xbox!!! Their architecture is similar to PC, so its easy to port games (especially for Xbox). I hope nintendo learns this lesson with the NX. Otherwise they'll be doomed. Little support from fans on Wii U = give the finger to the platform and go somewhere else more profitable.

More and More quitting development? I havent heard that.

But Gone Home, Octodad, Dont Starve, Hover: Revolt of Gamers, and Binding of the Issac and a lot more are all coming to Wii U, despite already being successful on other consoles. And it already has some high profile indies like Shovel Knight, Affordable Space Adventures and Stealth Inc 2, and Ive seen nothing but positive views of the indie scene from developers and fans alike. And Nintendo features indie games on the front page of the eshop and releases eshop trailers for indies in numerous directs, and even at E3 last year.

I just dont see where you are coming from at all.

As for the game, saying everything is fine when it's not and giving no indication that there are problems, and abandoning every console you promised and all the fans with it is lame.

Honestly alot of kickstart games dissapoint.

The good:
Pillars of Eternity
Shovel Knight
The banner Saga
Divinity Orginal Sin

The bad:
Wasteland 2

The ugly:
Shadowrun Returns

My guess is that they can ask for a PS4 or XOne version instead.

They should be able to ask for a refund.

It's Kickstarter, it will probably never happen. Especially with WiiU version being a stretch goal (to my understanding). It is just another lesson in a series of ripoffs and broken promises on that site, since you are not actually buying anything, but donating money in exchange for a vague promise of future gifts.

This time, gift crapped out...

did you even read what I said. Wii u owners skip a lot of there games since they run like shit on wii u and ate missing content and dlc wii u. That's why sales are shit. Third party companies are expected to make compelling software on wii u and they aren't. But some owners want them to and want to play 3rd party on wii u. But not everyone has $400 just lying around the house.

Porting from last gen is not that hard. Next gen will need to reworked.

The poor performance can be in part because of a horrible and strange architecture. Developers aren't going to spend 1 year porting a day and trying to optimize it, only for you guys to trash it and say it runs horrible. And the Wii U is 299, XB1 is 350. XB1 is 3-4 times more powerful, and has lots of 3rd party support. The Wii U is running last gen hardware, and has almost nonexistant 3rd party support. So I don't think price is an issue here.

Done with kickstarter and their lies.
