Forums - Politics Discussion - Christianity is Anti-Hatred of People or Groups of People

Question: Is an atheist who doesn't hate on minorities more likely to go to heaven than a devout Christian who claims to love Jesus but hates on minorities?

The whole "love Jesus" part seems completely irrelevant to me. Unless God/Jesus is full of himself, "love Jesus" should simply be interpreted as "follow Jesus' teachings", which can be done by people of any faith.

Conclusion: Christianity renders itself unnecessary.

Leviticus 20:13: If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

This is not up to interpretation. This is black on white: kill homosexuals (and for some reason no lesbians). 'Up to interpretation' is made up by religious people for the truly horrible things that are said in the bible. And yes there are way more horrible things described in the bible. You either believe everything or nothing as the bible is the word of god.

Leviticus 3:16:'... all the fat is the Lord’S'; Leviticus 3:17: ‘This is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live: You must not eat any fat or any blood.’

Leviticus 19:27:‘Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard.

Leviticus 19:28:‘Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord.

Leviticus is a crazy old testament book (thanks Moses) about sacrifices and lots of crazy rules, with some occasional decent stuff sprinkled in like: Leviticus 19:18:'You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.'

I read it a few months ago, good that it pretty much has no bearing on modern christianity.

Christianity does not just define a lifestyle, it defines the existence of an almighty god first and foremost. And therefore leaves a limited space for reason.

Buddishm, that's a religion that defines a lifestyle, is truly anti-hate and promotes reason and realism above anything else. It does leave room for the existense of a god, but emphasises that the question if one exists or not is not important for a person to achieve happinness and enlightement.

Just like 'The bible is up to interpretation', the New Testament is something religious people made up because they know how fucked up their favorite book is, but they still want to believe in God and control people. God did not personally tell us that the old testament is something we should ignore, those were people who realized christianity would die if the people knew the bible said such horrible things. There are still people out there who strongly believe in the old testament and you can't tell them they are bad Christians because they actually believe what the bible tells them. Besides that, the old testament is still in every bible printed nowadays. Educational books that are incorrect are not given to schools anymore because it is proven to be incorrect. You can't prove the old testament to be 'old Christianity' because the one who wrote the bible won't even bother to come to earth to make that clear. Also muslim terrorist actually do what the quran tells them. You can't tell them they are wrong.

Overall, religion is a big mess and should be a thing of the past.

People view Christianity as hate, in many cases, because of a couple different reasons; they think people that call themselves Christians actually makes them Christians (this includes Hitler, at one point apparently, and millions/billions of others) when, in fact, one needs Christ in their hearts as their savior to be saved. Then and only then will someone's life start to change drastically towards being more Christlike. Here in the u.s. I believe we have more Americanism than Christinity; people say for God and country all the time but then do things that very much is pro U.S. but contradictory to what the Bible says for us to do. People that call themselves Christians yet don't follow Christ's model are probably not truly saved (not to be specific, because I don't know peoples hearts) but that Kansas "church group" that screams at people all the time would be an example here. Lastly, the Bible predicted accurately almost thousands of years ago that people would despise Christians and what we stand for, so it doesn't shock me the least bit that people would be persuaded to believing a bunch of made up nonsense that's against the Bible.

So it's wrong? Is it not what God wants if this is the book of God?

Just incase someone says:

'But old testimant doesn't matter/isn't relevant now'

I guess that whole bit about the 10 commandments and God creating the world don't matter either.

Dogma and doctrine like the Ten Commandments are different from discipline like sacrificing Passover lamb, not eating blood, not eating meat on Fridays,  priest not getting married..discipline can change but dogma and doctrine like the Ten Commandments, the trinity cannot change

True stuff, it feels nice to meet a fellow Christian on the forums;

however, it stresses the importance that most people don't see Christianity as anti-hate. It actually brings more hate to the table when people hear the word "Christian." To us, it's natural to love one another since that's how we were brought up and is the natural human instinct. Sin disrupts that and in turn, we turn on one another.

It still doesn't bring to justice how people like to call themselves Christians, yet go on to hate and commit other sin they cannot recognize.

Thanks for bringing up this important topic. The more Christian awareness to the world, the better.

There is a religious scholar makes Reza Aslan who was on the daily show recently and he said something that I think fits into this thread quite well.

I'm paraphrasing here, but basically he said that more often than not people don't derive their values from their scripture, but instead they project their values into their scripture. He points out that there was a time when both slave owners and abolitionists were using the same bible to justify their positions.
