I also dont argue that the Wii is a better fit for Sonic, but if Sony doesn't start producing more games that fall in line with Nintendo's more casual crowd and characters Japan will be lost. They need to reach out to that crowd, and taking on Sega to produce those styles of games like they did on the Genesis would be a huge benefit to Sony.
Thats the way the Japanese market is heading, and Sega has experience with those types of games. |
They should buy Rare.
...eeehm wait...
You'r right though, but that's not something you can force. Mario & Sonic are unique. They hang around for about 20 years and are still popular. Besides Sony delivered itself to the Western hardcore by making the PS3, it's hard to change that image around with a somewhat casual character. Look at Ratchet, good game, average sales.
Japan is totally different and we see the result. Final Fantasy will come too late, at least it can't come too soon, but after Yakuza's sales, especially the console numbers, I don't have a clue anymore what Sony can do to boost the PS3. Imitating the Wii at this moment would probably do more harm than good, since it would change the PS3's image again.
