I'm 36 and have had about every console imaginable from the Atari 2600-PS4. I think the best consoles without a doubt are the 4 PlayStation ones (PSX, PS2, PS3, PS4) due to always being the best Hardware & with tons of great 1st & 3rd party games. The 5th imo would probably be SNES or DreamCast.

objectively, I would say something like this:
1. SNES
2. PS2
3. NES
4. PS1
5. GC
although you can't definitely say which one is the absolute best.
My personal order would be:
1. N64
2. SNES
3. GC
4. PS1/NES

The Playstation 2 easily. Second the SNES and third the PS1. After that it gets a bit hazy. Maybe NES? Then the three seventh gen consoles more or less evenly matched? Hmmm...

To early to bring the eight generation into the mix, though if a console joins this list, it will be likely the PS4.
