The lack of understanding what a CASUAL is is pretty disturbing lol.

Tetris is a casual game and its a hardcore game both at the same time. Hardcore is not the opposite of casual whatsoever and never was and never will be.

Think about it.

I'm not talking casual gamer... I'm talking casual buyer.. read the OP.. :)

just for clearance

In this tread.. "casuals" means normal people who buy a console just like they buy a computer or other gadet.. meaning looking more at what it offer.. and price.. rather than a special brand/model.

  • Big part of that group is parents buying for kids (and them self mayby :)
  • Other part could be "public places" like kindergardens.. schools.. hotels.. and so.
  • And offcourse 15-45 years who see the right game/experince/service and price

We dont know how many they are.. but I would mean that it's atleast 75% of all console owners from gen 7.. and even so this gen proberly will be smaller.. it's safe to say that its more than 100 mill. (imo)

check sale rate on games (best selling ps4 games: Fifa, COD; wii u: mario kart)
The gen is already full of casuals.

Why are you mention.. 3 games that "Hardcore" offcourse will be very interestet in.. ?

And are you trying to say that first 42 mill sold in this gen.. not mostly is to what we call "hardcore"..?

But.. okay.. I give you that there offcourse are some "casuals".. but that does not mean that they will not come in even bigger numbers next few years.. So instead.. :) tell what you think is important for this group.

How do you see it.. and if you should "predict" a number..  how many "casuals" do you think will come to gen 8.. from now and until the gen is over..?

in my opinion all these games are for casuals. They get mainly played by people who have no real interested in the gaming section at all, dont know much about games and their system and just buy, what everybody bought (what they see on tv ads). Special COD and Fifa got awfull review scores in the past years. I cant imagine that anybody who is interested in the gaming market (watch reviews, is excited for e3, etc) would buy those games.

hardcore gamers are more in games like: Bayonetta 2, Bloodborne,..

And I dont think that there are many hardcore gamers at all on consoles. Hardcore gamers would usually prefer a pc, scince its always the superior platform if your not a casual (cheaper gamers, no online fees, almost same price if you build on your own).

I think for causals:

1) new experiance (motion controls, gameplay wise, VR/AR, Blueray ect)
2) price
3) "Normal" AAA games
4) Resolution/framerate
5) Media capability

I know a guy who bought the PS4 just to play FIFA, so yeah...

I understand what you mean.. and I will give you some right.. (and will not discus if a game if hardcore or casual.. that was never the intention of this tread)

No I wanna know what you think is important for the more casual buyer.. what they look at.. is is framrate.. price.. games.. or other..  a pretty simple question :)

2. Why aren't there as many free games as on tablet?
3. I rather buy a tablet (for my kid)

Same but with mobile.

Its mainly marketing ;)

get a "cool" console, which seems to be the "best" for and affordable price.

Casual dont care about fps and resolution at all. I have many casuals friends which are mostly on ps4 and they dont even know what resolution or fps is. They dont care about it. They have no problem with 900p (otherwhise battlefield4/hardline wouldnt sell so good righ?). They just believe what everybody is saying "ps4 is the best - xbox is crap". And they want the best. They have no idea about the real world differences.

BTW: Scince im from europe, many people i do know got a ps4 almost only for fifa. To be honest there is no reason to get a 8gen console for this game, scince it looks almost the same on 7th gen^^

OK.. Even so you did use a lot of word.. but I think I got it.. ?  you mean most important for "casuals" buyers are..

1. cool (pr)

2. best (you mean games right)

3. New type of games ?

4.Media capability

5. Framrate/resolution

Thanks for answering.. :)

well maybe more like

1. marketing (tells u it might be the "best")
2. price
3. what ur friends got

thats mostly it. I doubt fps/resolutin would have any impact at all
