Forums - Sony - Rumor: PS4 And PS Vita May Be Getting A Price Drop

"I don´t think so. It might have plenty good games(maybe even the same amount in every genre) but it´s missing the big hitters such as Monster Hunter, Yokai Watch and Pokemon(I know it´s 1st party). You could say it lacks the Handheld equivalent of CoD."

Basically.

3ds killed vita because of all the quality and quantity of software. the vita couldn't compete on either point, price was just the tip of the iceberg.

Honestly I think the PS Vita lineup is as strong as the 3DSs.
I dont buy into that quality & quantity angle.

I think its just brand, people love nintendo handhelds... and its price, along with that 1 game like pokemon.

If you look at the bigger picture game wise, Id say their pretty darn equal.

PS vita suffers from what the Playstation 3 did.... its too expensive.

why 89$ is not believable for vita? same happen witn that ''home vita device'' from 159 euro to 69 with 3 games. Sony don't care about vita years now, most apps is not suported, most games go on ps4 like Tearaway and Gravity Rysh and they slow the vita production, along time ago. Most retails on my country have Ps Vita in stock house. So It looks like Sony want to finish the Vita so stop ''embarrassing them" more
And good thinking to low the ps4 price to catch the xbone
The competition is good for gamers some times

Would be nice, doesn't really effect me though since I'm going to get the Batman console.

Edit: And I'd buy a Vita another Vita if it drops down to 99 bucks

I'm not big into handhelds but if $89 that's one buy from me.

Would Sony really drop the price on PS4 this year?
PS4 sales are the best of all. Surely they would want to reap the needed profits and do a pricecut next year if needed.

But they could always be better, and soon they may reach this price point's saturation.  Drop it to $350 or $299 and boom Halo 5 makes no difference this fall, in fact the X1 would likely do worse than last year.

PS4' fight with the X1 is already over. It won. Sony needs the profits far more then some a tad bigger victory.

Not if the larger market share allows even greater profits than they would otherwise get.  The real money comes from software, not hardware.

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

[Prediction Made 6/18/2014]

Vita fire sale in the west? Is it that unbelievable considering the PSTV prices we've seen lately?

If they had that kind of headroom for a price drop, we should've seen it get one a while ago. They've been losing millions on the Vita as it is.

What sort of nosense is this? Sony has not been losing millions on the Vita. They never sold it at a loss. It's one of the reasons why it failed.

ps4 seems believable but not the vita unless its a clearance sales

Sony should bundle the PS4 and Vita for $449 great deal, $150 off. Might give Vita the bump it needs.
