Forums - Nintendo - Metroid U made by Platinum games?

This would work only if they're turning it into some insane action shooter. I don't think Platinum knows anything other than high-octane. I'm a huge Platinum Games fan, but unless Metroid is going to turn into an over-the-top shooter like Vanquish, I'm not seeing how this is true.

You forget before they became Platinum they were responsible for Okami, which while it has its action is closer to a Zelda game then your typical DMC entry.

That being said, I have a hard time seeing them do it as well. Not that I don't think Nintendo would be that down on handing the franchise to them for a test run. Metriod is such a non factor outside of Smash Bros and Samus outside of her armor in Japan, they thought the arse backwards story on Other M was a good idea, it wouldn't be too shocking for them to hand it over to another developer with a different play style then what we had before in mind. But despite the fact that they would no doubt given time and funds make a really good game, I think they probably wouldn't want to be hand tied by the mythology and its current caretaker.

Nintendo/Retro + PG teaming up why not.

PG alone man I dunno. As good as Bayo2 is it could use some more polish.

well not a main game, but a spinoff? sure, want. loved mg rising

Highly doubtful. Nintendo has come out and said the two forms of Metroid they are interested in carrying forward are classic and Prime. If anything, Platinum would be their last choice as it would almost certainly result in a game similar to Metroid Other M, which Nintendo is almost pretending never happened.

As long as they have the right guide-lines, it could turn out great.

I'm now filled with determination.

A developer like that could never make a great game like Metroid.

I'm convinced Retro is about to drop Metroid Prime 4 Wii U at E3. Surely Donkey Kong TF wasn't all they were
working on. Also, I only recently got around to playing Metroid Other M, missed it when it came out and reviews
weren't good but I loved it! It felt like a great extension of the 2D Metroid games from past.

The 2D Metroid games from the past weren't ruined by a poor story or lack of exploration. Yes, even Fusion had some exploration (and a good story).

I thought the story was decent, some long cut scenes but great visually.

Maybe it was because my expectations were low but I was pleasently surprised. Also the 8-10 hour length was good for someone like

myself with not much time. As much as I love games like Metroid Prime it's hard for me to find the 30-40 hours required to complete it....

It shouldn't really take you that long. I think my first try was 15-17 hours.
