Forums - Gaming - How long before you become impatient for game to finally release?

I have an exact threshold: When a game is revealed at E3 and hasn't come out by the next E3, I just want to throw my hands up and say fugeddaboutit. When I see a polished demo that makes the game look done and even another year isn't enough to finish, I wish they had just held off on the reveal.

I'm just happy that Splatoon barely made it.

Depends.. I tend to get initially hyped about things but it will die down relatively quickly so I tend not to get games day 1... meaning that I don't really get impatient for release dates

Though of course, I would rather be able to play a game than have it delayed or such

Never. I got time and lots of games amassed in the last 25 years to fill it anyway.

Also, I almost never buy a game around launch (MK8 was an exeption due to the free game promotion that came with it during it's first month) and wait for sales. If I had an Xbox ONE or a PS4, I'd probably even wait for the games to come with games with gold or it's Sony counterpart, never actually buying a game in the process.

I dunno if it's because of impatience yet my interest in most of the games I've backed on Kickstarter has passed. I won't be backing anything else.

I have Wasteland 2 installed, no interest to start playing.
Dreamfall chapters, interest gone.
Broken age part 2, gave it 15 minutes but can't really be bothered with it anymore.
Of the rest I don't even care to check when they might release :/
(I did play Elite Dangerous for 3 months and Broken age part 1 wasn't bad)

I have too many games to play, no time to be impatient for something else to release. I need a long games drought to catch up. Maybe a video game crash can save me!

I used to, but not anymore. I not only wait for games to release but also wait for the price to drop or a sale as well. If the game doesn't seem worth the $60 purchase to me for whatever reason, I'll wait for however long it takes.

Xenoblade X is hurting a little right now. Monster Hunter Tri and the first Xenoblade the last week was tough, because I couldn't play and they were staring at me

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Depends of various factors, for example after I try Splatoon Demo I become really impatient to buy and play game again.
Before Demo I have plan to buy Splatoon when find cheap copy, after Demo I preorder game, and after that i cancel preorder and decided to buy game from eShop on launch day. :)

I remember being super antsy for Final Fantasy 8 to come out. But I can wait, my backlog goes for miles (just on PS4...add in PS3 and I'll never catch up). I have to admit, though, I'm anxiously waiting to get my hands on Adventures of Pip, my first kickstarted video game...

I'll agree with the timelines put forth by previous posters - a game shown as playable at E3 should launch before next E3. 1-1/2 years from initial announcement is the sweet spot. JRPGs get some extra leeway just for translation & dubbing.

I usually have a game or two lined up to finish before another game releases, so I'm not impatient. Like now. Before The Witcher 3, I had Bloodborne, FF Tyoe-0 HD, and Bladestorm: Nightmare. So, for two months, I just played those three games. I also have a backlog, so once I'm done with The Witcher and I'm waiting for Metal Gear or Nobunaga's Ambition, I have other games I can play.
