Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo holding business presentation at E3, teases 2016 game reveals

Doesn't Nintendo always do this?

Last year we got the Codename STEAM announcement during their business presentation I believe...

Seems like a bad way to announce things, see Steam's sales. Also didn't like how the Pac-Man reveal wasn't in the direct, only lessened it's hype.

Seems like a weird move to do... Why not have it all in one show instead rather than dividing it like that. Seems a bit concerning for the digi event...

Yeah, it is a bit weird. I'm thinking they'll show similar things at the events, but maybe different teasers and such for the same games.

Either way, it's more than what we would know of with just the Digital Event, so it can only be a good thing, really.

Yeah, that's true. It'll just be more sweet goodness in the end... x ) I'm pumped for this!

I hope we get to see the contents of the closed show.

We typically do when it comes to Nintendo. I highly doubt they would show anything big and not let the public access it afterwards.

Thats good.I hope this E3 is chalked full of Wii U games and 3DS,I expect more for Wii U being it has more years left than the 3DS

As sundin13 so graciously pointed out to me, this strategy was used by Ninty last year when they showed most of the big guns at the Digital Event (Mario Maker, XCX, Zelda, Splatoon, etc.), left a few smaller projects for the Treehouse (Mario Party 10, Project Guard/Robot, Devil's Third) and then revealed something else at the business presentation (Codename STEAM).

This really just confirms that they have a lot in the oven and I definitely think we'll see more Wii U than 3DS, just like last year.

I think Steam's sales were less a result of its reveal, and more to do with its poor marketing, niche style/gameplay and less-than-stellar reviews. Even if Nintendo had pushed it as much as Splatoon, I still don't think it would've done all that great. As much as I love Intelligent Systems, that game is no Fire Emblem or Paper Mario in terms of appeal. And that's okay, because it wasn't trying to be.

Hmmmm. Ditto on the concern. Will that mean a gimped digi event? I guess we'll find out about the contents online either way, so no big deal. I doubted them last year, but they certainly delivered. I'm sure this year will be the same.

It'll be awhile before I figure out how to do one of these. :P

Okay sure on the Steam thing, it's still a bad way to announce things as I see no benefits to doing it behind closed doors.

To be fair, it's not exactly closed doors since we all find out about it directly afterwards, but I get your point and I agree.

It's probably just a way for them to reveal smaller projects that can't fit into the Digital Event or Treehouse. Nevertheless, this only means more content is on the way and although it's not the best strategy sales-wise, it still delivers the goods.

Inb4 journalist tell us they got to see Zelda U but can't talk about it. I'm not that big on Zelda so I wouldn't really care, but I'll bet other Nintendo fans will be pissed off! But that wont happen of course... maybe!
