I think Steam's sales were less a result of its reveal, and more to do with its poor marketing, niche style/gameplay and less-than-stellar reviews. Even if Nintendo had pushed it as much as Splatoon, I still don't think it would've done all that great. As much as I love Intelligent Systems, that game is no Fire Emblem or Paper Mario in terms of appeal. And that's okay, because it wasn't trying to be.


Okay sure on the Steam thing, it's still a bad way to announce things as I see no benefits to doing it behind closed doors.
