Silent or Spoken Protagonists?

.... The silent type... 49 44.55%

I like more talkative ones 61 55.45%

Total:110

The ones that can talk over time have shown to have more charm and to me are at least more memorable, that is to say I don't mind silent protagonists but I find their lack of vocal input makes me feel like I;m playing as a ragdoll that doesn't do anything special, GTA V for example puts me fof with your online character having no vocal lines what so ever that during hiest missions during the briefing sequences you and your friend's characters just look at each other and nod while one of the story characters briefs you and I feel a disconnect, at least Saints Row let you create your own character how you wanted and gave you at least 5 voices to choose from which were fleshed out for the entire game and the sequels that followed, I'd have loved GTA V doing that for online and other games in general.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

It really depends on the game. Like one of those actiony shooty-shooty bang-bang games: Talkative

Some others...Uh silent.

Every one of my top 5 games has a silent protaganist.

Like many said, depends on the game. I've seen games change a silent protagonist to a spoken one where it has improved the game (Dead Space 2 & 3: Isaac) and others where it was a detriment (Metroid: Other M).

I like both! I`ve enjoyed games where characters are silent or talk, such as the cool, quiet Chrono of Chrono Trigger, or the cool, confident, likable type of Vyse from Skies of Arcadia ; ) Oh yeah, can`t forget Ryudo from Grandia 2. He`s such an awesome character... I can`t pick between either Star... : (

spoken.

i will never feel like a character is "me". it will always be a character i'm controlling. the silence is, imo, awkward and breaks immersion because the interactions are just so fucking awkward.

Whatever fits the game the best.

A game like Mass Effect wouldn't work with a silent protagonist, and a game like Half-Life wouldn't work with a talking one.

Depends on the type of game and how it is written. It can work both ways quite well

I dont mind talking, as long as its not Nolan North or Troy Baker.

But silent characters are always best.

As long as its not to two best voice actors in gaming? Lmao ok
