Great, the score dropped thanks to this douchebag.

Spends his entire review complaining about how the levels being made are terrible and barely goes over the actual creator tools. Still stating BS lies like the 9 days unlock system, doesn't mention the 4 different graphical styles, the amiibo support (which can be unlocked through normal play), the music, etc.

That is one of the most pathetic, aweful reviews I have ever read.  Even if he had got anything right (he didn't) the thing is filled with claptrap gobbledygook and pretentiousness to the point of sounding like the work of an egotistical-but-bellow-average freshman college student writing on something he only thinks he knows about.

It's the most clicked review on metacritic as well (from the SMM reviews), this is why sites do it I guess. Desperate to get the clicks. Pathetic.

I've played some amazing levels already, like the "Throne Room" level from Gamexplain or their SM64 bob-omb Field recreation.

The only Mario platformer that deserves a 5/10 is The Lost Levels. What a tasteless review.

And it was so close to 90. I guess the highest it can get is 89 now. Ah, well. I'm officially done with putting any kind of stake into that website when one low score can severely hinder the game and it takes multiple 100's to bring it back up. Very flawed system.

Yeah, I don't take scores like 100/100 or 50/100 serious. The game isn't perfect (so no score should be that high), but it's not close to being that flawed either. They should probably start using a 5% trimmed average instead. Or the median (the median for SMM is 90).

That's just how averages work, one bad grade kills your average and makes it near impossible if not to get an A in most cases unless the score is dropped. That review is BS and ruins my prediction points as well and doesn't deserve to be a part of metacritic but yea. That's just how averages work.

10/10 isn't an indication of perfection, merely the highest praise one can offer.

As for the system, the weighting can be a problem.  But even just a pure average will make a 5 have more weight on an 8.9 than a 9 to 10 since 5 is 3.9 lower than 8.9 and the highest score can only be 1.1 higher than 8.9.  So the 5 is always going to have the greater impact.  The problem with Metacritic is they do a piss poor job of properly evaluating the credibility or these sites and weighting them accordingly.  But the average is never going to be perfect.

Anyone that has studied statistics knows that the average is the most useless statistical "feature" (I can't think of a better word lol) available though. :p

this review is not even a review is someone that lost a live on teh first level played, didn't know what to do, get upset about it, went into therapy, spent lots of money and wrote this beofre waiting for a 9 days unlock time....

Really useless - he had no idea what he was playing.
