yep, it was a sneak peak the april fools by Google, in fact it's the only gameplay we have of the app, and it looks pretty good, plus it confirms that there aren't only 151 Pokémon in the app, because there are Greninja and Donphan in the april fools day traler

I did a quick look up on Niantic Inc, and it says that the company is now independent, though was formerly from Google..

So I guess the gameplay could be like on Google Maps, though the game wouldn't be able to use Google Maps to play since Google is not involved?

Either way, I wouldn't really mind a game like this because it would be really fun to travel around the real world to catch Pokemon

it is totaly played in the real world. for the collaboration with google I really don't know, I think the company is still linked with them it beeing a Start Up and the fondator beeing one of the creators of Google Earth
