I died a couple of times, but then I decided to kill his annoying guardians first and it was much easier then. :p

You need to make sure your party gauge is quickly filled all the time, Riki helps a lot with this. Then you just need to use the Monado armour, Monado shield and warning system correctly.

Yeah, lol I noticed that I beated the game with the same time and level as you . I finished it with Shulk, Reyn and Riki as my party.
