I wonder how good the game is going to sell outside of Japan

I'm betting significantly worse.  The appeal of Yokai is very, very heavily toed into Japanese folk tales and such.  It is very thoroughly Japanese in every sense.  Pokemon, while hardly western, is more neutral in its appeal.  I just don't see Yokai Watch crossing the cultural boundaries very well.

that is nice.  the level of that big mechon seems wrong though. :)

since you are already against Egil, so it would be less than level 72.  it is one of the unique monsters there.  how is your side quests and area affinities? as there are timed exclusive quests as well.

who is your most used character? Shulk? then least used?  for me its Reyn.

I have never used anyone other than Shulk, Reyne and Sharla tbh. :p

The Egil fight was right after the other one, maybe there's another battle with him later in the story, don't know. Egil was level 72 though (and much easier than the level 68).

I really only do the sidequests that are easy to complete tbh.

Melia is a good character to experiment with and for some characters will make your life much easier.  Just a thought.

I tried her for a while (when the story forces you), but she didn't heal much. I might replace Reyne for Dundun in a while? Any tips on using Riki?

Got nothing for Riki.

With Melia, the key is building up her summons; that will require some grinding.  In battle, you use those to support your team.  Two water summons will provide good HP regen and you can of course fire them off in emergencies.  The third slot for summons (you can have three at a time) you can use for an offensive one like lightning of fire.  Those of course also provide buffs for team mates but can provide good offensiv options.  Also, you can get her a pair of arts that when used in sequence topple essentially any enemy.  It took me a while to figure out how to use her but she's pretty effective once you figure it out.  But don't ever let the AI control her.  The AI is competent enough with all the other dudes but can't use Melia worth anything.

if you are more into the story only, that is fine. but if you are a completionist, you may need to do a lot of side quests for the area affinity and try to fight the superbosses as well (optional though).

Those graphics are pretty impressive for a 3DS game, if only Fire Emblem looked like that. :(

Agreed on Nuvendil on Melia. For Riki, his art skill that can break is good since it can hit three times on the opponent. But his topple art is merge with blind I think so it is somewhat 50/50 or in favor for the blind instead of topple. Riki is a tank character like Reyn plus he has a good heal arts. Just a tip, target the other character since Riki would also be healed. His main art (middle) is used for stealing experience, sp and items.  You should try heropon Riki. And it is a blast when using Riki as your main characters you'll love what he is saying to the other two.

Forgot to add, he has a skill called happy happy which can fill your party gauge, which is good for chain attacks.
