Not to be Johnny raincloud here, but for those hoping for 2017 Pokémon for Switch, do remember that 1) Pokémon has never been afraid to take its time moving from one platform to the next and 2) it's highly unlikely Nintendo will use 2 juggernauts to close out this year when it would be better to save it for a more timely release. I fully expect Pokémon in 2018, not 2017. Super Mario Odyssey will handle this holiday, and Pokémon will likely handle next. Or perhaps summer/late spring.

Does anybody remember the "What are Nintendo developing?" thread that used to be updated fairly regularly? Whatever happened to that?

It'd be interesting to have a new one to track what Entertainment Planning and Development (the reformed internal structure), plus Nintendo's subsidiaries, are making now.

I remember that thread though don't remember who made it so I can't find it D:

Stars will be on 3DS only and not Switch, because Nintendo is Nintendo and they usually go out of their way to not do the things that will obviously benefit them enormously.

The job listings for the developers said that they will finish in like spring of 2018 so I don't think that it's for stars. My personal guess, is that stars is coming out for both 3ds and switch. My hope is that switch includes extra content that justifies what would be the 60 dollar price tag

Your basis for saying that is what, curl? Did you notice that Nintendo has done things right with Switch or are you still on a blackout?

The Black and White 2 came to DS and not 3DS despite the latter being out at the time.

So it's the belief that Nintendo will repeat mistakes and shortcomings despite strong evidence to the contrary.

The 3DS played DS games, but the Switch doesn't play 3DS games. A dual release for 3DS and Switch is the most probable scenario.

Nintendo seem very committed to prolonging the 3DS as long as possible, and as Nuvendil pointed out, Switch already has its big holiday blockbuster in Odyssey.

Nothing implies Stars would have to come out this holiday, though. It could very well be a summer 2018 title, or even holiday 2018.

How far out from release are Pokemon games typically announced?

But wouldn't that be a bit late? I'd assume that they would be gearing up for the remakes/a new installment by then.
