Forums - Gaming - Ark: Survival Evolved Brings Dinosaurs to XBO/PS4

ARK: Survival Evolved is a multiplayer first person survival game coming to Early Access in June 2015. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions also planned with a release in 2016.

In this multiplayer first person survival game, you awake freezing and starving on a mysterious island. Hunt, harvest, craft items, grow crops, and build shelters to survive. Use cunning and resources to kill or tame and ride the Dinosaurs and primeval creatures roaming the land, and team up with hundreds of other players to survive, dominate… and escape.

“ARK is a huge game, in terms of geographical space, scope of content, features, technology, and just about every other metric. We’re a veteran team with some major hits behind our leads, and much of the core challenge is already met, but this is still an ambitious one for us. We want the player community’s help to ‘evolve’ ARK into the dinosaur world game that we’ve been dreaming about since the days we played with plastic green T-Rex toys during elementary school recess, since we shed a tear to ‘The Land Before Time’, since we wistfully imagined the towering cities of ‘Dinotopia’, and since we nearly choked on our popcorn to the thrills of ‘Jurassic Park’. We love games, and holy smokes do we ever love dinos (along with all sorts of other extinct creatures/natural sciences), and through interaction and iteration with the ARK’s community, we think we have the best shot at creating the be-all, end-all long-term prehistoric universe that we want to live and thrive in. We have a great start, and with your valued input and contributions, we will take it all the way together!”

I am 100% sold on this, as long as it turns out to be a good game. Not nearly enough games with a dinosaur setting, which is suprising.

Yeah the game looks amazing xD Been wanting a dinosaur game for a long time and this one looks great!

Wow, it actually looks pretty cool.

that looks really interesting, would be even cooler if the Dinos had better hit zones and damage modelling, but that's not that easy to achieve - maybe next gen

Yes we need more dinosaur games.

Not many games impress me these days but I am so looking forward to this one.

Wait, why does this look more interesting then every AAA title shown so far this year!?

You tell can it needs a lot of polishing up (Animations, espcially the people, more dynamic dinosaur behaviour, better collison detection etc) but it looks brilliant from a visual and conceptual standpoint. This is the kind of thing I'd wish one of the big 3 or another publisher would pick up just so they can offer some financial assistance.

Anyway very exciting, wishing the team the best. I hope they don't get too carried away with scale and focus on ensuring each gameplay component is as fulfilling as it needs to be.

Didn't know it was on Steam until I looked it up, the article doesn't really mention it until one of the bullet points mentions "Steam Economy Support for Statistical Items".

Also I believe the footage used in both the XB1/PS4 trailers is taken from the footage found on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/346110/

None the less this looks like it's going to be a really amazing dinosaur type game, the last few attempts failed miserabley in the span of 2 years, hopefully this will really take off because I've been wanting a game like this for years.
