It's too early to say for sure about the Wii U, but if it get's Metroid and maybe a Mario Sunshine remake in addition to the current line-up of games that are supposed to be coming AND those games remain consistent with Nintendo's current level of quality on the Wii U then I would feel comfortable saying that the gaming experience offered by these 3 consoles are inversely proportional to the sales shown on the first page.
In my opinion, the gaming experience on the Gamecube was far ahead of what was offered on the Wii. Nintendo just seemed too distant and unmotivated in the Wii days. Today, Nintendo is putting such a huge effort into pleasing its fans on the Wii U. There is no way that you would ever see games like Mario Maker or Splatoon appear in the days of the Wii.
