The DS was indeed a beast. The Wii had a 13-month streak (March '08 to March '09) where it sold more than 400k units in a month. The DS? A nearly uninterrupted streak of 400k+ sales lasting over three years, lasting from Feb. 2007 through to early 2010, with only two months in that span going under 400k (it sold 383k in August '07 and 258k in January '08). It was also the the only system to sell over a million units in a non-holiday month. The second and third best non-holiday months for any system in the U.S. was March '03 for the GBA (838k) and Oct. '08 for the Wii (803k). |
Well, the best year ever in the US is for DS, that sold more than 11 million in 2009... is also true that the best month ever is for the Wii, that sold nearly 4 million in December 2009... cray crazy.
Wii U just getting its ass kicked by the GameCube.
WiiU numbers make me cry, so little love for a great machine.

Quite a shame, because from the looks of it, the Wii U will have a better game library (for me) than the GameCube. Plus the GameCube had much better competition (PS2.) Hopefully Nintendo do better than the GameCube and even N64 next-generation.

no luck

Never knew GameCube was doing decently at the time. Impressive.
Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Decently?
GC is doing very well in the US, and this is 2004. 2003 was even better...
Maybe you don't know, but the GC best NPD, is stronger than the PS4 best NPD.
GC: 1,163,000 (Dec 2003)
PS4: 1,138,000 (Nov 2013)
Gamecube looks like a beast compared to WII U
Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

It did ok, but lets not get carried away either. It was a consistent no.3 after XBox and far behind the PS2 in the US.
