Forums - Gaming - Worst Used Game Experience?

Do you buy used games?

Yes 25 31.65%

No 13 16.46%

Sometimes 28 35.44%

Yes, but I'm careful now 8 10.13%

No, I used to but got too... 5 6.33%

Total:79

I know not everyone does, but I tend to buy a lot of used games -mainly because I only became a gamer towards the very very beginning of Gen 7  (early '06) and because of that I missed a lot of the PS2/GC era and below and collect them among others XD And as a result I have had a few bad used game experiences o~o

My worst one was probably buying a used Final Fantasy X. I bought the game not knowing much about it and loved it. The disc had scratches that I tried to ignore, which came at a price. So I'm getting towards the near end of the game when suddenly I realized I could progress any farther without the game freezing. Everytime I tried leaving this one section to enter another the screen went black and I couldn't progress. So I ended up rebuying it on a new disc which does work and without scratches XD My second worst would be Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, but it froze at the first major cutscene so I was able to refund it without a problem.

So guys, have any bad used game experiences?

Buying Sonic colors and thinking that a good 3d sonic could exist.

I bought a used copy of Link Between Worlds once, and realized it didn't come with a Club Nintendo code.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Can't be that bad, right? Hope not... my gf is going to make me play that soon o.o

I used to work for Gamestop for 2 1/2 years and there are a couple of horror stories regarding other individuals buying used games, but I'm really careful when I do. Probably the worst one I had was when I bought Legend of Mana back in 2001 at EBGames. I really loved the game when I rented it, so I bought it. The game completely freezes in certain areas and plays fine in others. Awful. I had that horrible copy for years until I decided to buy a new one later on. I don't tend to buy used games and if I do, it's because the game itself is out of print or very difficult to find new. Otherwise, I'll buy new whenever possible, even if it costs me considerably more.

Oh, just remembered another one.

Bought a used copy of Final Fantasy 13 recently, only problem was the game they actually gave me was Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. Never bothered returning it, AC Brotherhood can't be that bad... right?

How'd they manage to switch those two games up? XD arent they usually put in alphabetical piles?

I bought a copy of Gears of War 3 from my friend. Disk was basically ruined. My Xbox couldn't even read it.

I never got my money back from my friend.

It happens, unfortunately. Even if they're in alphabetical order, sometimes the employee who did the shipment and put the games away makes errors like that. Then, there are those who don't even know their alphabet and put the games away.

Are they still a friend?

Yes, unfortunately.
