Forums - Nintendo - Splatoon post-launch plans - is it good?

This game is $69.99 in Canada.... way to expensive. My little nephew was so happy to play the demo this weekend.

He's sold. Being 12 years old and his mom super obsessive on what he can play. This is his foray into FPS without Mom disapproval

I like how the game will expend with DLC(Free makes this even better). Nintendo knows how to do DLC right, Mario Kart and Pikmin were amazing and very good value for what you pay.

You're clearly a misunderstanding what I'm saying. People criticized for a lack of content because  you're clearly a misunderstanding what I'm saying.  Evolve didn't get criticized for a lack of content at launch because  it did not have a lack of content to have launch. Didn't get criticized because they added a lot of content; it got criticized because it was $100 worth of filler.

never played evolve yet but wasnt there just 1 or 2 monster at launch and rest dlcs?

Yes. He thinks it´s better to have a game complete for 150$ than 3/4 of the game at 40$ with the full game 2 months later for free and constant updates/events/maps/gear in the meanwhile.

I think they should have delayed the game at least a month, there is a clear lack of content and it will get better later but it will require space on the disc which the console is already lacking. Adding 3-4 more maps and 1 additional mode on the disc will improve the replayability a lot and reduce the amount of downloads required, the rest could added later, no problem on that.

The game is fun but it should offer more during launch.

You can just buy it later, games don't have to be bought at launch. This is good for those of us that are content with the initial content, as really the gameplay alone is inherently dynamic n addictive much like Mario Kart n Smash to generate hours n hours of fun.

The idea to support the game post launch is good, but the fact that this launches with 5 maps and basically only TDM as an online mode (I think, I watched the direct on friday but forgot that part) is ridculously low for a game that's supposed to focus on online, it's like you can buy this as a $60 game now but it really won't be a $60 game until August.

Will be interesting to see how reviewers react to this.

I don't like how they are doing it. It appears that some of those maps were in fact done. 5 maps is just going into suicide with the reviewers. But, I don't really mind since the game was a blast and it sounds like they will be releasing like 1 a week or around that. But I think its plain stupid what they are doing with ranked battle. Should be there day one. They switch you room to room every time. Seems not hard to find enough people at one time. Still day one for me, just questionable decisions.

Only if reviewers are ass-backwards... which they generally are lol. To prioritize content over the core gameplay would just be stupid, as a game with shitty gameplay will still be shit even with a million levels. People keep bringing up MK8 and it's 48 tracks, yet what was actually the most significant thing in that update was the speed increase, as it actually affected the core gameplay. Prior to you basically did the same thing on every track (not a bad thing mind you, MK's gameplay has always been solid), but now they have to be approached differently and racing in general is deeper n more challenging, hence simply adding 50cc did more for the game's longevity than the 8 new tracks, though they helped of course.

Don't comment on games you know nothing about.

Again, the game is €30-40.

There is no TDM, Turf War is about covering the map the most with your team color. Ranked Battles n Splatzone shoud be unlocked within the first week, and there's the singleplayer campaign and the 1v1 local multiplayer, so already more gameplay variety than MK8.

The bolded does not negate Splatoon being 60 dollars in NA.

That's not my problem.

Anyway, with 4 multiplayer modes, 15 multiplayer maps and a singleplayer campaign it's worth the $60. The Order costs €70 here...

I rather have a more complete game on my disc than on DLC, there is a reason why I don't buy digital only games, so if almost half the game is DLC (even free one), is best if I pass on it.
