We already had a long and closely run thread about which would sell better out of Splatoon and XCX, but do you think Yoshi can outsell them both? (Individually, not combined)

I think it has a chance. Yoshi's New Island sold about a million copies and it was not a very good game. This game looks great. So, why not?
I think it will be about the same

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]
I would say no, but this game has already managed to surprise me...
Have a nice day...
I want to say no... but Kirby's Epic Yarn was very good and well received. There is a strong possibility that short of NoA and NoE making XBX their big game of the year, we will see Yoshi dominate like only a Mario spin off can.
I think so.
Nintendo is doing okay in marketing Splatoon though and I hope to see the same marketing effort for the other two titles. Xenoblade really needs to be marketed like a big Zelda title especially since Zelda is delayed. Not having Zelda leaves a big hole in the orginally planned 2015 lineup but X can help fill it. It would be a shame if they just market it like a niche JRPG because then they will get sales like that. Internet hype, directs, and YouTube trailers can only do so much.
It has big chances yes. It´s the perfect product for Nintendo audiences and Nintendo is doing everything right with this one, I wouldn´t be surprised to see it beating the 3m mark lft, the amiibo is going to help a ton. But is too soon to speak.

I think both Splatoon and Xenoblade Chronicles X are going to be big hits as they are the major Wii U titles this year. I believe they're both going to sell over 1.5m and probably at least one of them is going past 2m. Yoshi's Woolly World doesn't look like it has that much appeal, to be honest. Like, comparing it to another 2D platformer on the Wii U - Tropical Freeze - I think we can all agree DKC has more wide appeal, and yet it just went past 1 million units not that long ago. I think Yoshi's Woolly World will sell 1 million at most. |
I don't agree with Donkey Kong having a wide appeal. I believe the average joe looked at the game and thought, "This looks great, but too bad it's 2D like Mario Bros. This looks like something that could be more fun in 3D, especially from a HD console." It doesn't help that most 2D platformer games these days aren't Mario/Rayman are indie games that are colorful and much cheaper than $50 at launch.
However, when a average joe looks like at Yoshi, they will will probably think, "Oh wow, this game is so colorful and artistic. I bet my child/girlfriend/wife will love to play this! And its plays just like the fun 2D Mario games!"
