I think both Splatoon and Xenoblade Chronicles X are going to be big hits as they are the major Wii U titles this year. I believe they're both going to sell over 1.5m and probably at least one of them is going past 2m. Yoshi's Woolly World doesn't look like it has that much appeal, to be honest. Like, comparing it to another 2D platformer on the Wii U - Tropical Freeze - I think we can all agree DKC has more wide appeal, and yet it just went past 1 million units not that long ago. I think Yoshi's Woolly World will sell 1 million at most. |
I don't agree with Donkey Kong having a wide appeal. I believe the average joe looked at the game and thought, "This looks great, but too bad it's 2D like Mario Bros. This looks like something that could be more fun in 3D, especially from a HD console." It doesn't help that most 2D platformer games these days aren't Mario/Rayman are indie games that are colorful and much cheaper than $50 at launch.
However, when a average joe looks like at Yoshi, they will will probably think, "Oh wow, this game is so colorful and artistic. I bet my child/girlfriend/wife will love to play this! And its plays just like the fun 2D Mario games!"
