If MS does a new consol before 2019 they are shooting themselfs in the foot.
You dont want to jump the gun on these things.

It needs to match up to either a new process node, or new tech release, or atleast be close to the competitor so you dont end up to far behinde when they come out with theirs.

I don't think this is true at all. MS could easily establish themselves a base of non native Xbox users if they launch a new system in late 2017 that is significantly more powerful then PS4. Hardcore console gamers may very well move to the system if huge third party games like  GT6 and Elderscrolls 6 are running on it outputting superior graphics+performance then the PS4 and PS5 is nowhere in sight. The established Xbox fans will be there of course and their loyalship isn't down to being the most powerful otherwise X1 wouldn't have sold 10m in its first 13months.

By 2017, 14nm chips will be available alongside "next gen" AMD CPU/GPU technology and HBM RAM.

Not to compare Xbox brandpower to Playstation but PS1/PS2 shows that once you're on a role, having slightly less pretty games then a new competitor isn't going to bring your momentum to a hault.

If microsoft can deliver software which can deliver graphics that "look" similar to Epics recent UE4 kite Demo then it doesn't matter too much how much more impressive the PS5 graphics are as Xbox10 will still be a huge leap and diminishing will make PS5 look only marginally better.

Unless they have a gimmick up their sleeves, arriving early is the only way to securely gain audience, otherwise they just have to hope that sony messes up like they did with the PS3 launch.

Arriving early is great, however arriving too early means death, because it means you're competing against a current-gen console in it's peak and won't be powerful enough to compete with the competition's next-gen console in power.

Late 2017 is way too early, late 2018 on the other hand could be a good gamble.

This gen should sell around 190-220M.

200-250million

PS4 - 100m TO 150m

Xbox One - 40m to 80m

WiiU - 20m to 40m

Wouldn't this be 160-270 million? That's a 110 million difference, that's a beyond huge margin or error.

well we are at the start of a generation so anything can happen, thats why i gave estimates and not exact figures

My signature. Can't believe people think x1 will sell less than 45 mil

Ltd predictions by the time 9th Gen comes out

Ps4:110million

Xbox one :75 million( was 65)

Wii u: 20 milliion

My estimate would  be 170 million - 200 million

PS4 - 110 million
Xbone - 55 million to 65 million
Wii U - 18 million

It is hard to say, PS4 is selling about like the Wii, though it depends on if it keeps the momentum or not unlike the Wii in it's last year or two. I am going to say 100-125mil for the PS4, 50-65 mil for Xbox One and 15-18mil, 20mil for a miracle for Wii U

Dont know, but less. That segment captured by the Wii is not coming back.

If numbers from op are right wii+ps3+360 are 271, not 281

I think it will go something like this:

PS4  120-125m

X1    75-80m

Wii U 20-25m

Total  215-230m

I think they will sell good in the late generations, even without support.
