Why is it assumed Nintendo is making money while Sony is losing it? Sony get a slice of all those 3rd party releases with no expenditure whatsoever. Have never sold the hardware below break even and invested very little with even R&D being tied into the PS4s budget using off the shelf components despite the powerful hardware. PS+ subscriprions and decent margins on memory cards.

I'd be amazed if Nintendo come close to matching Vita's profitability this time around.

As for which is better. Vita is a far better portable console than either the PS3, PS4 or Wii U so for games on the go is pretty much the only option for multi plat games.

However for Mario Kart and Smash Bros Wii U wins hands down. Are we done with apples to oranges comparisons yet?

I know you love the vita dude but its barely beating a console that has had borderline no releases this year. Not to mention the PSTV fire sales that have been going around.

Ah fair point actually. Completely forgot about it to be honest as I have no interest in the car crap they are peddling. Still, I definitely think that by the end of the year the vita will be well below the wii u.

I forgot to mention the many psv shop deals,price drops in the USA/EU,like the ps vita tv fire sales,it's being sold at 49 euros in my country,50% down...

Wii u still at full price,299$,no shop deals unfortunately...

P.s In my opinion the title needs a currently between is  and outselling,as is of now it's like saying that it happens continuously and it will keep happening while it's temporal/a coincidence!

Yes, Vita is dead, I'm glad it's all settled.

Both did bad....

However, I'll just say that Vita still has support especially from developers in Japan. Being a handheld, it is cheaper than the Wii U and handhelds generally sell better than home consoles

Just to point out... the vita 2000 was released in Q2 (calendar) 2014. It was bundled with Borderlands 2.

Theres also the PS TV which usually gets agregated into vita sales.

And in terms of support.... the Vita gets weekly releases, and 2 free games a month from your PS+ sub, and most importantly is 1,000,000x better than the gamepad for remote play.

I have two problems with what's being said in this thread.

One, while I can't speak for Europe the Wii U IS in fact being advertised. Every single first party Wii U game has been advertised on TV on stations like Nick, Disney, and Cartoon Network. Latest being Kirby followed by Mario Party 10.

Two, there's this stigma about the Vita's library lacking in quality when that's far from the truth. Most people probably just look at review scores where Vita games are criminally under scored because they weren't made for consoles, instead of actually playing the games themselves.

Games like Killzone Mercenary, Gravity Rush, Tearaway, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Persona 4 Golden, LittleBigPlanet Vita, Freedom Wars, DanganRonpa, Ys: Memories of Celceta Wipeout 2048, Unit 13, and Soul Sacrifice Delta are all great quality games that I would say are just as good if not better than most games on Wii U. And that's not even getting to the "anime Japanese" games where some of them also happen to be great games.
