Forums - Gaming Discussion - PS Vita is outselling Wii U - though Wii U is getting more love from it's developer

It's simple. The PS Vita is a great handheld that came out too soon. The world was not ready for its awesome, and now people are seeing the light.

If that was the case then why is it down YoY? The vita was ahead of Wii U at this point in time last year as well the difference is the gap is now much smaller. Last year it was over 100k until MK8 hit. Now its down majorly and Wii U is up. If the trend continues wii U will go past it in May and stay above it for the rest of the year.

No no, Wii U is not a failure, a failure is virtualboy. I think you people are overestimating how much trouble Wii U has. Im not underestimating either, but you cant partake in either sides. Vita is not a failure either. Some consoles sell better then others, and therefor they earn money by that, sometimes nintendo ''wins'' a generation if you want to make a competition out of this and sometimes playstation ''wins''. I care about nintendo and ik that they support their consoles very well even if it doesnt sell well. Look at the gamecube. Wii U is gonna be like the gamecube.  A classic beloved gaming system in the future.

Both are failures because they have considerably less market share than their previous iteration. Wii U and perhaps the Vita may be profitable in the end but that doesn't change the fact they lost so many sales.

Yes they have way less sales then their predecessors but thats not what determine whats a failure. I know the media and the people who follow these game company and sales like to make things more dramatic then what they seem. Yes Wii U was a big risk from nintendo but its not a failure.

Wii U is the dictionary industry definition of a failure. No one at Nintendo is happy with its performance, no one.

It is a failure, but that doesn't mean it's a bad console.

Every handheld that isn't Nintendo (and PSP) for example.

I'm not so sure people are seeing the light.......it's on track to be down YOY for the 3rd consecutive year if Vgchartz is to be believed.

2012-3.67 million

2013-3.20 million

2014-2.42 million

2015-2 million???

Just to point out... the vita 2000 was released in Q2 (calendar) 2014. It was bundled with Borderlands 2.

Theres also the PS TV which usually gets agregated into vita sales.

And in terms of support.... the Vita gets weekly releases, and 2 free games a month from your PS+ sub, and most importantly is 1,000,000x better than the gamepad for remote play.

Better than the gamepad for remote play?? sure if you like a bit of input lag.

That´s just a lie. Terrible fps drops and obvious input lag. The gamepad is almost flawless on remote play.
