It's a more competitive market for Sony. Outside of the UK, Europe is locked down. But I wouldn't be surprised if they still have booths at Gamescom just to demo some of their games.

Eh, TGS is entirely different in what audience it appeals to and in what games will be there, hardly any TGS games will be at E3/Gamescom and vice versa and if western games appear at TGS they are often just the E3 trailers dubbed. If you want to question something, then I'd suggest how close PSX should be to Paris Games Week, that really doesn't make that much sense.

Well, I don't follow Sony as much as I did a few years back so I don't know when will take place that PSX event.

But the point is that each Show is aimed at different territories: E3 for USA, TGS for Japan and GamesCom has been the de facto show for Europe for years. Skippiong it because Sony can't show something new is a poor excuse. Extended trailers paired with the fact that more european press media will have access to their game demos is more than enough to give them the repercussion they want.

Whaaa??? Gamescon is literally only relevant because of sonys press conferences... Do you go in expecting it to be E3 2.0? Its not E3 and for obvious reasons, but there are always ; new gameplay footage, trailers,release dates, and smaller game announcements.

Sony's official statement:

“We’re delighted to announce that we will be hosting an international media briefing at Paris Games Week on 27th October. With the changes this year of E3 taking place a week later and Gamescom taking place earlier, we feel that both PlayStation and the wider industry would benefit from a major news milestone later in the year, during the most important period for gaming. We are excited about our plans and look forward to sharing some exciting announcements. We will share more information closer to the time.”

Another actually pretty obvious reason that Sony could be pushing towards that show is because they are looking to make a "price cut effective immediately" announcement and they want to rather do that at a conference than through a blog post.

TGS is nothing like E3 or Gamescon... They're not gonna announce anything non-japanese centric at TGS other then Capcom/Square/SJE, whereas Gamecom is europe focused and europe focus essentially = North America+Majority of the industry.

Well then MS just won Gamescom by default.....the sweetest kind of victory :P



Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.
