Yeah, I don't consider yearly rehashes/releases to be good.

Do you opinion change the fact that a 3rd party tried to release a game, on par with the PS360 versions and it just flopped massively? Let me guess: any 3rd party game on the Wii U will either be a late port (so it doesn't count), a game that sold terribly (but you consider it bad, so it doesn't count) or one of the few you enjoy and that sold half-decent numbers?

What do Tony Hawk games have to do with CoD?

I couldn't give a single fuck if CoD would skip Wii U.

Sadly there are heavy rumours for a new CoD on Wii U. I'd much rather get Tony Hawk.

CoD = one of the highest selling 3rd party game.

TH = 3rd party game.

TH sales < CoD sales

It's easy to see why 3rd parties are skipping Nintendo.

Yet Rayman Legends, Lego games, Skylanders and ASRT sold more than CoD on Wii U.

There goes your argument.

It's all really down to the IP. I personally think this game would do well enough on Wii U over a CoD game. CoD is also heavily reliant on multiplayer and the online for Wii U can't even tread water when it's up against PC/PS4/Xbone. I hope Nintendo as a company start working with or even publish certain 3rd party titles. Wii U last year for me was hands down the best system to use but Nintendo really need to put some effort in with the larger publishers.

Did any of those games had the Wii U version as its highest selling SKU? Did any of those games broke 1M on the Wii U? Stop trying to pretend that an enviroment that's as viable as a desert for 3rd party games would make any difference for Tony Hawk. If it did, most 3rd party games would be released there because it would make sense from a business perspective.

The sales were pretty similar with all those games despite the Wii U having a much smaller userbase.

For example The Lego: Movie Videogame sold 460k copies on PS4 and 450k copies on the Wii U. Lego Batman: Beyond Gotham sold 260k copies on both the Wii U and xbone. Skylanders: Trap Team sold 500k on the Wii U and 290k on the PS4 (540k on the PS3).

Rayman Legends and ASRT didn't break 1M on any single console. What's your point exactly?

Stop trying to pretend that Tony Hawk has the same audience as CoD. Keep ignoring the third party examples I gave you that sold on par with the other versions. Not every game needs to sell over a million to be profitable. I doubt Tony Hawk  Pro Skater 5 has a huge budget.

Why don't Western third party developers make games for the 3DS? It has a huge userbase and games like Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter, Professor Layton and Yo-kai Watch have proven to be succesful on the platform. Because they're biased as fuck, that's why.

7th gen still kicking lol.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

This part of your argument is one of the bits I'm having a problem with.  Back in previous gens, Tony Hawk games were part of an IP Activision clearly saw lots of potential in - it was still growing and growing across each successive entry.  Since the 7th gen, pretty much, the IP has slowly been assassinated by poor entry after poor entry to the extent where it clearly wasn't viable anymore.  Right now, this game seems like quite a cynical attempt (even down to the naming) to cash in on the last bit of goodwill left in the IP - so comparing it to how things were 15 years ago is not a good comparison to me.  You seem to be making out that an extreme sports game in 2015 is something which has broad appeal and should be put on as many platforms as possible - that's just not the case any more.

But that's actually exactly my point. They burned the series to the ground and they way they're treating THPS5 doesn't fill me with confidence about the game. They don't seem to have any confidence in it themselves, so why should I?

If that was your point all along, that did not come across to me at all :P

I don't think anyone should have any confidence in this game.  From the publisher; to the way they've treated the IP in recent years; to the developer; to the name they've chosen here; to the screenshots, everything about it seems cynically developed and extremely disappointing (although to disappoint you have to have expectations, and I'm certainly not expecting much).

Which is why I find it bizarre that this thread has literally been completely taken up by WiiU port begging.

The Wii U can't support a game that expects a minimum amount of sales. Tony Hawk has a more similar audience to CoD because it is a mature game. The ones you cited are oriented towards kids, a strong public on Nintendo. Anyway that let's us with the following:

- Games with weak sales that sold a little less on the Wii U compared to other platforms.

- Games with strong sales on PS3/4, X360/One that sold abysmal numbers on the U.

If it was a profitable market fro 3rd parties, they would be there. They tried and they quit trying now. That's because they lost money. The platform isn't viable. The only games still there are kid-friendly ones, that found a decent niche. It's similar to Vita, where AAA games aren't feasible but it has a good niche to indie games.

3DS isn't getting 3rd party support because it can only sell a handful of 3rd party games. Devs gravitate towards PS4 and X1 because they can sell almost ALL 3rd party games.

Anyway, that's way off-topic now so I'm leaving the discussion.
