Damn you motored through that. Leadified and I are still fumbling around early on (in the Ice Cavern), but glad to hear it turns out good. Promising so far anyway, and it looks like there's plenty more to come!

It does have its difficult parts, as that damn place over the vine in where the moogle even tells you "don't go there, it's dangerous", but you go anyway because you just saved and you didn't died anytime yet and think you are the real deal, than cross ways with a freakingly huge dragon that wipe your entiry party just like ants and you feel that you still has SO much to get stronger XD |
I loved fighting that dragon early in the game as it really boosted your level. The trick is to just try and beat it the first time and once you do then you can repeat and reap a ton of exp. I killed so many early on that Freya's Dragon Crest ability dealt 9999 from the moment I unlocked her ability.
So glad to hear that you've really enjoyed it and gave it a perfect score. It's my favourite FF of all time and wish they can do a remake.
It is a cool old days FF after they tried something new with FFVIII and get a lot of criticisms from fans.
FFIX is a revival of the old SNES/NES FFs.
That is why I liked it more than FFVIII or FFVII for example.

While I found X a good game XII is in my TOP2 FF lists
PS. I know XII is love or hate.
I wish I would have played it at the time. I think I would have loved it so much.
Moving on to FFX now?!
Nice review! FFIX is my second favorite Final Fantasy, and it is by far the best on the PlayStation 1. It is amazing that SE could make this game after making VIII. I kind of feel as if they got a hang of the cinematics and then asked themselves, "how can we put more substance in this game now? Having stellar cinematics is not enough."
I'm glad you liked it. While I, myself, couldn't get into I was say aesthetically it is very beautiful, especially for a PS1 game. And though I didn't like the music as much as VII or X, it, hands down, has the best enemy encounter theme in the entire series.
