I just wanted to point out that Pachter predicted 300k for the Wii for Feb. compared to the Sim's 450k. I will be interested to see who is closer.

 

For reference I believe these are the VGC American numbers for the same period:

@mike_intellivision: You are not right about PS3 software sales in Europe. On average they are a little higher than X360 sales which has more than 1 milion more consoles sold. This week X360 managed to win a little but this is becouse it got more software in last two weeks (LO, Frontlines, Bully, Army of Two while Army of Two was the only decent (>20k sales) title released on PS3). Also most multiplatform games sell better on PS3 in most countries acording to GFK. Only UK is an exception but recently more and more titles are selling similar on each platform even if X360 has 2x as big userbase.

Intresting where the Wii will end up. I am pretty big that it sold more than that was SE is currently forcasting. And that since Jan. VGC says I am right, I hope NPD does see it the same way :)

We are going to be VERY high on PS3. Unless NDP overtrack PS3 again.



End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Ahhh... the fight for second place. Gotta love it. But even if the 360 loses by a few thousand consoles, it technically is a victory for MS as they continue to fight the valiant fight against the monster that is (was?) Sony. Of course globally, it's slowly getting more desperate for the system...



Numbers are like people. Torture them enough and you can get them to say anything you want.

Its a little bit confusing in the hardware table, because you choose the weeks by ending, not beginning :)

Oh by the way, a lot of money on SE making last call bids that the Wii sold less than 370 thousand.  at the monent its trading arround 400 thousands, because I throw more money on the bull side, but it seems I am the only one. Well if I am right, I will be pretty rich.

Well if the surge in PS3 sales is due to Blu-Ray winning the format war then it's likely that there may be an increase in people buying the system simply to use as a Blu-Ray player. If that's the case it's likely that they will be very casual gamers at best.
