Forums - Gaming - Mario Kart 8 vs. Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed

Which do you prefer?

Sonic 42 15.05%

Not Sonic 237 84.95%

Total:279

Sonic Racing Transformed also only has 21 tracks compared to 48 from MK8 lol. And you got a free AAA game with MK8, so I consider the dlc to be free. Saved me €60 from Pikmin 3 and the dlc only costed €12.

Mario Kart 8 > SASRT > All Older Mario Karts.

I can't say enough praise for the type of game Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is, but Mario Kart 8 is better.

Sorry, but no, the controls of Sonic racing transformed are clearly worse than on Mario Kart 8. Same with the weapons, the graphics, the tracks. Sonic is good, but MK8 is epic.

Graphics on Sonic are pretty stunning on top PC settings :)

Tough call. Mario Kart 8 is probably the tighter game. But those flying transformartions are a genuine change in game style (rather than just floating back down) and I also love the way some courses change beyond recognition between first and final laps.

Weapons are definitely a weak point for ASRT though.

I'm gonna say SART wins because its under a tenner on pretty much any format :p

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

I think I enjoyed Sonic more, just because it had a pretty lengthy single player campaign, which MK8 does not have.
Pretty much everything else is better in MK8 (not in another league like some say, but better), but since sporadic online and local MP races will never keep me playing as much as a good SP campaign, is Sonic still a bit superior to me.

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

I have Sonic racing transformed on PC running at max settings  and 60fps and I agree that looks great. But it doesnt beat Mario Kart 8 graphics, not by a landsliade. And that´s not because Sonic isn´t good, but because MK8 is mindblowing on that. I agree on the changing tracks of Sonic and the changes of the Karts being more interesting and impressive than on MK. I love that Skies of Arcadia track, where you end flying in the middle of a flying ship war. It´s epic.

Yeah that's one of my favs too, alongside the space one and the panzer dragoon one. I like the ones that change between laps, keeps things exciting.

Yes, I thing that´s one of the things that keep Sonic away from being irrelevant after MK8, at least for me. That and the "tour mundial" mode. I still enjoy that game, but now I compare it with mk8 everytime I play it and I see a lot of flaws.

i hope we get another sonic all stars racing, I thought it was really fun. But I don't think it was as good as MK8.

They are both good, All-Star Racing Transformed offers something different enough to warrent owning both, more of an arcade racer with changing tracks and Karts, i really enjoyed All-Star Racing Transformed. MK8 is a more polished game though.

Sonic Racing has some nice features, but MK8 is much more polished.
