Forums - Gaming - Formula Fusion hits Kickstarter - WipEout spiritual successor, PC with XB1/PS4/Vita stretch goals

... but those are very hefty stretch goals.

Still, looks exactly what I want as a WipEout fan.  More of the same (and I genuinely don't mean that sarcastically)

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/formulafusion/formula-fusion-next-gen-anti-gravity-racing-game

Formula Fusion is a near-future anti-gravity racing game that brings fast, frantic, adrenaline-fuelled racing together with the raw sound of a thumping dance soundtrack and psychedelic visual effects. Set in the dystopian year of 2075 in the redeveloped ruins of New York State, Formula Fusion’s stunning atmospheric environments complement the dirty-urban visual design of The Designers Republic that truly set the stage for the Formula Fusion W.A.R Leagues – a dog-eat-dog racing competition born on the back of F1 racing.

It's worth noting this too - the game is still planned for those platforms even if the goals aren't met:

The low target of £35,000 is a statement to our determination and commitment to make this succeed. £35,000 represents a base line plan to start gathering momentum - this will allow us to create the "base game", which will feature eight tracks created by the WipEout 3 track team and an early-access version featuring one fully developed track. After this, with each "stretch goal" we hit, we will commit to fully developing those specific features outlined in each stretch by the dates given underneath, BUT... let us be clear on this: the plan isn't to completely get rid of these features if we DON'T hit our stretches, but rather we would need to reassess how we are going approach those targets and reschedule accordingly. The truth is though - nobody wants to work guerilla-style, snatching development time when possible, working remotely and calling in favours; we have been through all that and now we need to push forward with a feasible plan.

Nope!
As much as I loved WipEout 2048 those numbers are rather BS.
Hell they are accepting money without even the promise of making the game in the end.
Is this the same devs?? Well I mean the same core guys anyway??

Plenty of devs who worked on WipEout, among devs from other ex-studios in Britain (Psygnosis; Reflections; Rockstar Leeds & Codemasters judging by that list):

Also, the design is being done by Designer's Republic, who did the original stuff for WipEout 1-3 and gave it such a distinctive look.

Also, music by CoLD SToRAGE, which should mean more stuff like this and less licenced rubbish like in every recent WipEout.

Also worth noting that the devs are aiming to get this out on PC/PS4/XB1 regardless of whether stretch goals are hit.  Unsure about Vita version.

WTH, Am I the only one who thinks those numbers are on the high side?

Edit: I mean 350k for it to be on Xbox One and PS4 seems weird imo, surely it doesn't cost 100k to port a game like this.

Looks great. I may even support this one via a kick starter! Even though they'd have to make a bloody amazing game to top the Vita Wipeout.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

400k for PS Vita edition? Too much...
