I'd assume they'd at least do better than Wii U. Whether or not they can pull off something massive like the Wii again is questionable to me.
Of course, this gen Nintendo handheld and home consoles are at track around 80m LT.
Next home console will certanly sell better than Wii U and next handheld will probably again around 3DS numbers, so I think 80m for next gen is minimum.

I believe haveing 1 peice of software (game) that runs on both the newest handheld (low resolution) and then a cheap consol that can play the same game, but at higher resolution, is a brilliant way to go.
atleast the consol version is bound to do better than the Wii U.
I think dedicated handhelds are going to continue to decline simply because a lot of people don't see the need for that anymore in the age of the smartphone/tablet.
But they will make more money next-gen by making games for iOS/Android, so it won't matter.

All these facts, strategies need to be influencing Nintendo in how they approach the next generation devices, partnerships and much more. Nintendo can be successful, although truthfully I don't have a lot of faith that Iwata, Reggie and Miyamoto are capable of learning from others. |
Good post, but I thinking that they already started to think different, DLCs, Amiibos, announcement of heavy integration for home and handheld consoles for next gen, going on mobile market, new online services and account system...they admitted some Wii U mistakes..
Truth is nobody knows what they are to going next, but I am pretty sure that they want repeat some of Wii U big mistakes like terrible name, bad and poor marketing, hardware not appealing for 3rd part..
Because all that I think next gen Nintendo consoles will sell better.
As long as they dont address the main problem like lacking major 3rd party games or more diversity of games genres interest in Nintendo will be declining.

Consoles... Hard to say not knowing what nx is but I'll blindly say yes. I have faith. Nintendo seem to be learning and growing as a company imo.
Handhelds... Not a chance.
