I completely agree with the OP.

Thank you.  I expect mostly haters in this thread considering I am more or less baiting them to come out, but it is nice to see someone else saw the reasoning behind some of these decisions.

It's like everyone just assumes the worst.  Some people need to take 5 minutes and consider if there were in fact some good reasons for these changes.

Agree with most your points. I played tons of BF2 online on the computer. I actually thought the same team who made battlefield made battlefront back then because the games felt so similar.

I disagree with points 3 and 7.

#3. The prequels like it or not are cannon and will likely be used again. Not now but I would bet we will see there presence in either a map pack and most likely in the sequel to this game. I enjoyed the clone/droid matches in BF2 over rebel/empire matches. This was for two reasons; more interesting hero characters like Maul, and Mace Windu. It was also because the droidekas were so damn fun to play as. As I said earlier I bet we get a prequel map pack with places like Naboo and Coruscant.

I would believe Prequel stuff in the next iteration, but I really do think this time they are doubling down on the most popular parts of the Star Wars universe.

#7. I played online with people piloting the old AT-AT and it was never a problem. To be honest it was often boring piloting because they were so slow. It sad though that its not an option.

Yeah but everyone seems to be thinking of At-AT's the ways they use to be.  It seems fairly obvious to me that they will be far stronger this time like they were in the movies: A towering battle fortress that takes an entire team to bring down.  I think it will be like a new rush mode built around the attackers having to defend the AT-AT like it is a grounded AC-130.  That sounds awesome to me!

The age-old argument that "less is more" doesn't really work with sandbox games.

What we are looking at here is yet another game fueled by the inevitable success of a movie, and EA looking to maximize profits.

No galactic conquest and no space battles means I'll spend no money on this game. They're supposed to add onto what the other games built up to this point, not take away.

I'll probably get this at some point when its in the bargin bin or on sale and will hope that they add more features/eras in battlefront 2 two so we can get back to where we in series progression.

I didn't care to read your points after the first to be quite blunt.

THEY chose to call their game Battlefront, and therefore THEY are the ones who have to live up to that name and fan expectations of what that means. This is true of all things in business. You can't just use a certain name for your product because it'll get you instantly more attention, and then fail to deliver on what people consider core to said brand/franchise/etc.

I also agree with the OP.- while I never like seeing game features lost, Dice is starting from stratch, and has been working on this game for some time. The are also focusing their effort on the original trilogy and land based combat. while a large scope in a game is always welcome, it seems that recently some games have promised more than they could actually deliver (the crew, watch dogs, etc while good games did seem to have some descripencies between what people expected and what people recieved. )

I am so far causiously optimistic about battlefront. I'm still wary (because its EA) but I like the focus and I overall trust dice. Im fine with them focusing on making the fun part of the game as great as it can be before improving the weaker parts of battlefront. it isnt worth having these additional features for a comprimised core experience

sorry about grammar, written quickly

This thread was was not that good xD I love the star wars prequels, and i know many people do too, the prequel haters are the old star wars fans that are blindfolded. The campaign was fun. It was not just tacked on. It was missions and had some cool things. Like the mustafar or the destruction of the clone for the new empire. or the mission in the death star. AT-AT should be drivable. I know they are slow but they are so heavily armoured and powerful its a trade-off. SPACE BATTLES were awsome. They could have made space to ground battles. BUT NO. That idea is soo cool. The only thing that intrigues me from the new battlefront are the graphics wich i personally idc for graphics at all, and the new maps with cool features and vehicles, and im just a huge battlefront fan but this feels ehh :/

I'm just happy to be here.

A+ post. Would read again.

Agreed. I don't trust EA, but lately they've done some things right, and from what we know about the game, I'm pretty confident that it'll turn out to be good.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won
