It was. You could remove the romance altogether and you wouldn't lose anything. The Hulk would have still left because he felt he was a monster after being controlled and Black Widow would have still stayed with The Avengers.

Also, my other big gripe with it is that it made Widow into a weak character. She wasn't the badass we know and became a damsel in distress to be saved.

Yeah, Widow definitely seemed to show more of her emotional/soft side during the movie because of this.

It's not the soft side I had a problem with, I could understand that bit. It's the fact that the only Black Widow couldn't escape her old ass "prison" was so that Bruce could save her. That was idiotic.

I've definitely got to agree with you on this: thats the only big issue I had with the movie since it seemed just like a filler for screen time.

But yes I enjoyed the movie too.

I think you would lose that calm down strategy thing for Hulk

They could have made it just a friendship in my opinion.

Captain America and Black Widow not having a romance in The Winter Soldier didn't diminish the chemistry between the two or the importance of their relationship. The same goes for Hawkeye and Black Widow. It just felt like an unneccesary addition to the movie.

I think expectations play a big role in how you view Avengers films. To me the stand alone films do the heavy lifting in terms of characters and story. The Avengers is a big pay off film where they all come together and have massive battles.

I do agree this film needed 40 minutes more to breath and can tell they were under pressure to get it under a running time. So, will absolutely buy the Blu Ray to hopefully see more fleshed out story aspects.

To me it was better than the original for what they are. For example coming up I expect Civil War to be the best film, and Infinity War I expect the greatest spectacle.

I found the film to be enjoyable but ultimately felt like I was just watching a re-tread of the first Avengers movie.

Avengers or Avengers 2?: <insert villain here> brainwashes <insert genius here> leading to him creating <insert problem here> that allows for an army of <pick aliens or robots here> to enact their endgoal.  In the meanwhile the Avengers have some disagreements and in some cases even fight each other, then realize they have to come together and beat the big bad.

It was a fun two and a half hours but my gf enjoyed it more than me. The film was all over the place attempting to cram in too much comic book history.

I'm a DC fan, too. I didn't like them making Hawkeye the Green Arrow of the team (moral compass amongst gods). Cap is the moral compass! Hawkeye is the guy that thinks he should be the leader!

When DC finally makes the jla movie, there isn't going to be a lot of ground left to cover because Marvel is doing things that DC did first in comics, first on the big screen. It's going to look like they copied Marvel.

Saw it over a week ago. And we actually enjoyed Age of Ultron overall.

My biggest issue with Hulk/Widow was that this felt totally rushed and thus cheap.
To judge over Ultron as a villain i think i'll wait for the Blu Ray and watch it in english.Ultrons german voice was pretty mediaocre.

As a whole, this one felt rushed. Like there actually should have been 20-40 minutes more.

According to the director his original cut of it was near 3.5 hours long.

Theres already a rumour about an extended cut for Blu Ray. And in this case i think that would pay out for viewers.
