Super mario 3D world - IGN review stated its 15 hours only, and I have never played mario games before as I was never really a massive nintendo fan.

Hyrule warriors - Heard its only 10 hours long, not really played much dynasty warriors games, did play warriors orochi for abit thought it was fun

Bayonetta 1 & 2 - Played first one on ps3, loved it. The only 2 games I know eventually I will buy but waiting as I just played a hack and slash recently

Pikmin 3 - played first one on game cube, really enjoyed it back in the day, not sure if I will still enjoy it as my gaming focus has shifted now.

So thats about it, not a massive list I know, but maybe playing one will change my mind for the others ;)

look forward to some suggestions, thanks for reading and excuse my spelling :)

welcome to VGC.

Hyrule warrirors is CERTAINLY more than 10 hrs, with or without dlc there's plenty of hrs of content.

With that said, based on your taste, bayonetta or hyrule warriors. I also really like donkey kong tropical freeze

Thanks for welcome :D that's two for mario, how enjoyable are mario games for someone who has never played one? For me demon / dark souls / blood borne are the perfect games, so going from a dark evil world to cute and cuddly makes me think its going to be a hard transaction haha.

It depends. Why do you like Dark Souls? If it's because it's dark and gloomy, then maybe this game isn't for you. If it's because it has good mechanics, then the transition to SM3DW shouldn't last long. Collect all three stars in each level (they aren't collectables, they're a difficulty setting), and you should see why people love Mario games.

As someone who loves Souls games, they really can't touch SM3DW when it comes to being "perfect games," but it is more "Tetris" perfect than "ALttP" perfect. It's perfect because it literally has no objective flaws. It's mechanically perfect. The fact that it has fantastic presentation is why it's held above games like Tetris, transitioning from technically perfect to borderline masterpiece, with the only caveats being subjective.

The thing that may bore you is that Mario games are objective based platformers; you play to beat a level and that's it. You play Mario because it's a fun challenge, not because you have to save a princess. You play Mario for the same reason people play Sudoku, to complete a fun little challenge and move on. If that kind of play isn't satisfying or meaningful to you, nothing can get you to enjoy SM3DW, no matter how good its presentation is. Playing Mario is like solving a rubix cube animated by Walt Disney and orchestrated by John Williams. As great as it looks, and as great as it sounds, none of that matters if you don't like solving rubix cubes.

Thanks for replies guys, looks like the fight is between mario and hyrule :D hyrule I can get for £31 and £40 for mario, ( im cheap and I want digital for my Wii U as I placed it at the back of my tv out of the way lol ) tbh I will get both eventually, its just the whats first aspect haha :)

I'll be stuck in hospital waiting room soon so I will be watching video's of both and see what I lean towards the most!

I will be playing these in chunks so both seem like they could fit, and yes Xenoblade looks like it will warrant a purchase also

I think the reason I love them, is its near perfect combat system, and the fact you can do the entire game without even leveling up if your good enough, I love the minimal story telling without walls of text, and the PVP is so satisfying. ;D

That one Video gamer needed 176 hours for Hyrule Warriors - and that was before all the DLC which likely would have doubled his playtime to unlock everything. 10 hours are just true if you rush through the main story mode.

Mari Kart 8 and Smash Bros are probably on everyone's list, and for very good reasons, too. Same could be said about Mario 3D World, NSMBU and both Bayonetta. And Pikmin 3

Actually, it's hard to make a real recommendation, as this console is just so full of gems, even on the sShop (Shovel Knight, anyone?)

Since you and I are very alike, mario kart is definitely the game you are looking for

Mario kart? Really? lol I don't get it, maybe if I had people to play with yes, but for a solo play? I do not see any appeal of them lol. I like epic progression, to me it just seems like racing around the same tracks over and over and it would lose it appeal very quickly to me.  I could be wrong :)

It has an online mode.  Thought that if you dont want to spend a lot of money for games, that game can provide the most hours for your bucks.

Would you like Dark Souls if it was just the combat? No story telling, no real exploring, and no PvP? If yes, get SM3DW. If no, definitely don't and wait for XCX.
