Who will win the virtual reality battle?

Sony Project Morpheus 75 68.18%

HTC Vive 3 2.73%

Samsung Gear VR 1 0.91%

Ocolus Rift 15 13.64%

Microsoft HoloLens 10 9.09%

Carl Zeiss VR One 2 1.82%

Avegant Glyph 0 0%

Razer OSVR 1 0.91%

Google Cardboard 3 2.73%

Archos VR Headset 0 0%

Total:110

To be honest Project Morpheus should’ve been bundled with PS4 from launch in order to obtain high commercial success and reach the bigger casual market. Though I think it could sell quite a lot of units (and "win" the VR race) if Sony includes it in a bundle and supports it in in all their big upcoming 1st party games:

Bend Studio’s new horror IP
God of War IV
Gran Turismo 7
Guerrilla Games' WRPG “Horizon” with Fallout New Vegas writer
Guerrilla Cambridge’s new game
London Studio’s new character action game
Media Molecule’s new IP
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
etc.

AND make sure that it’s supported in as many AAA/AA 3rd party PS4 games as possible (especially games with 1st person view are ideal):

Alien: Isolation (already supports VR)
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3
DayZ (already supports VR)
Dead Island 2
Destiny 2
Doom 4 (Doom 3 supports VR)
Dying Light (already supports VR)
Elite: Dangerous (already supports VR)
Everybody's Gone to the Rapture
EVE Valkyrie (already supports VR)
Evolve
Fallout 4
Far Cry 5
The Forest (already supports VR)
Grand Theft Auto V
Just Cause 3
Kingdom Come: Deliverance (already supports VR)
Mirror’s Edge 2
No Man’s Sky
Project C.A.R.S. (already supports VR)
Rainbow Six: Siege
Silent Hills
SOMA
Star Citizen (already supports VR)
Star Wars: Battlefront
Titanfall 2
Unreal Tornament 4 (already supports VR)
War Thunder (already supports VR)
Wild
The Witness (already supports VR) etc.

I will go with Morpheus because it have no compititor

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

hololes is AR

i think morpheous will do about as well as kinect. sell around 20 million but not really change they way we play forever.

i think occulus will flop now that facebook is involved.

i think steam will also do well on the PC side of things but they aren't pushing a single piece of hardware. i kinda hope PM releases PC drivers that works with steam actually.

Sony, and for the same reasons bluray destroyed HD-DVD.

I think the rest are intended to be niche, whereas sony is really going to push it general consumers and gamers. I think Morpheus will do similar to Kinect numbers by the end of the PS4's life.

Bundling Project Morpheus with PS4 would be a terrible idea. Would cost at least 700€.

Bargain bins and dusty closets. VR will go nowhere just another reoccurring ad that flops every time since the 80s like 3D flops since the 50s

Man, there's soo many VR machines being made... It's hard to tell which one will do the best.

Yep, I can't understand why Samsung is making a VR machine though they have nothing to do with gaming.

I don't think VR necessarily has to be gaming specifically. I think VR can be used in other everyday things, which I imagine at least one of these devices it doing.

the thing is, PM is the only option on PS4 so it will win the VR battle on PS4. The real question should be who will win the VR battle on PC.

Besides higher computing power and resolution, I don't see great improvements compared to early attempts made 20 years ago, yes, headsets are lighter and hand tracking greatly improved, but the whole sets are still very awkward, too much for lasting mass appeal after the novelty hype will fade away.
