Well haven't you heard, X1 is getting discontinued by 2017; total shift to PC.

As long as people are making $60 AAA games in "dedicated systems" I am happy. Not interested in MMOs or yearly up gradable systems. They can keep it for themselves.

I havent upgraded my PC since 2010 and its still more powerful than PS4/XBO

Can your PC run bloodborne or forza horizon 2? Please tell me when they can and I will be interested in PC again. I judge games not graphics before choosing a system. I was a hardcore PC guy before 2009. Got PS3 in 2009 because of the exclusives. Now I am happy with it. Easy, simple and good games to play.

I own both Forza Horizon 2 and Bloodborne for their respected platform so that doesnt really effect me.  Just saying what youre saying isnt true is all.  There is plenty of reasons to own a PC beyond Mobas and mmo's though.

Welp... A lot of people still prefer dedicated gaming devices, even if most of their libraries are not exclusives. The success and popularity of the PS4 and Xbone seems to suggest that. Both Sony and Microsoft don't just offer these devices, but also invest in games and have their own studios. Their success, or at least their gaming devision's success drives and influences a large portion of the gaming industry.

Granted, not every studio needs to be in contact with Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo or even Sega and Atari to publish a game anymore, but The market being different from what it used to be decades ago doesn't necessarily mean doomz.

Even If they do shrink in a few years they would still be relevant.

+1  adding to that i think that Consoles are a much more main stream device than PC so in that regard will always have a market to getting into more people's hands

Look. Jay, I like you. You are one of the few users here who understands logic. What I said was from my point of view. I dont like MMOs (as I have mentioned earlier). I also dont like indies. Most of them are garbage anyways.

And steam games are not cheap. Its a myth. "Old" games are cheap at steam. Look at this. Plus I can resell steam games like PS4 games.

Mortal kombat x is $59.99.

Of course there will still be dedicated systems, AAA games by then might even go down in price if their budgets are properly sorted out, heck you'd be surprised that with the digital era of gaming you can find some AAA titles cheaper on places like Steam, MKX comes to mind costing £44.99 for the regular version on both PS4/Xb1 whilst digitally on Steam it costs £34.99, the physical PC copy costs £29.99, either way I'd be saving money after I upgrade my system.

I dont want to wait 3/4 months for a games price to go down. I like to play a brand new game. And steam games are not cheap when they first come around. Put the inability not ot resell is another issue. Plus I dont like to download games + like old times I like to own physical copies.

MKX is $59.99

Thanks, and i understand your point of view, just the way you said it i didnt.  You made it sound as if you need to upgrade every year and that PC only has mmo's which isnt true.  However if you dont want a PC as a gaming platform i completely understand that.

Steam games are cheap though (on sales).  What many people do is add new games to their wishlist and wait for the Summer/Winter sell for them to drop in price dramatically.  While i think this is both good and bad.  I think its good for the consumers who are on the fence, i also think its bad because it give people less incentive to purchase products at full price when they first come out.

Sega channel will rise once again...

It's interesting. But I see it becoming about "content" much like streaming video has become (with the likes of Netflix and Amazon now commissioning their own content for their services).

PlayStation Now seems to be the start of this from Sony. Windows 10 being a cross platform OS seems to be the start of MS implementing it?

But the way I see it going, yes the machines this content is accessed from will be wide ranging from PCs, tablets etc. I do think there'll also be dedicated set top boxes too.

I see gaming being delivered in 2 ways, either something you purchase (much as you do from Steam/PSN/XBL/EShop now), or something you rent (maybe streamed or maybe downloaded locally but expires after X amount of time or when your subscription ends).

PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, Origin etc will become competing market places for these services (possibly new ones, and also whatever route Nintendo goes down) and access will not require a specific companies box as numbers accessing will be key. I'm not sure it'll be as soon as 2019. However I certainly see it going this way in the next 20 years.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.
