To be honest head to head, Mario 3D World if it was on the Wii might've outsold both Galaxy 1 and 2 just because of the multiplayer component.

Well some still complain about them, mainly that they're not carbon copies of a previous installment, but they're the minority.

Yep look what it did for NSMB, and even without multiplayer we know it would of atleast sold the same based on 3D Land.

You dont have to like the game, i dont care about opinions on SM3DW and SMG. Thats not the point of the discussion we are talking about.

That's part of it sure, but not everything, see N64/GCN. Also the 3DS is selling purely off of "unambitious" games, and just lol @ Mario/Smash/Kart/etc. being unwanted.


Super Mario 64 made the N64 an stellar launch. And sold more than 10M.

And if those games were wanted, why didn't people went to buy a Wii U to play it?

Yeap, and the N64 sold only 30 something million, much less than it's predecessor.

They did? Just look at those attach rates.

I don't think it's even unreasonable to state that 3D World probably would've outsold Galaxy 1 had it been released on the Wii. 

Mario 3D World's play mechanics + 4-player multi? ... You're probably talking 15-20 million seller on the Wii, rather than the 11.7 mill Galaxy got to.
