Oh you are talking of Monolith soft...the RPG game maker.  The real Monolith is owned by WB. :)

At the start of 2008, Nintendo's worth 86.5 billions, while Sony is worth 56.8 billions... the only "richer" companies (in electronics) are Microsoft, Apple, Intel and IBM...

By example, it would be quite easy for Nintendo to buy Capcom (1.7 billion), they may find the money, or exchange some shares with actual Capcom shareholders... Capcom is only 2% of Nintendo, simple as that...

Here's my $0.02 ...

In the next generation on of the key issues that Nintendo (and all developers) will face is increasing development costs due to the quantity and quality of 3D graphical assets that they will have to produce. What I believe Nintendo should invest in is the creation of several (probably between 4 and 8) 3D asset "factories" (studios of 200+ artists that only create artistic assets) in developing nations (like China, India, Mexico, and Brazil) in order to produce a massive library of objects and textures that we see in the real world. When this library is complete the licencing of the objects within the library should be free for games produced exclusively for their next generation platform.

To further explain what I am refering to, imagine if Nintendo created a library of objects that included (pretty much) every peice of furniture that you could buy, a library of textures that included every wallpaper, rug, or material you see on a daily basis. Also imagine if this library included human avatars which could be customized and also had a massive wardrobe of readily designed clothes.

When a developer was faced with what could be hundreds of millions of dollars of game-ready content that they can use for free I suspect that they would be very willing to produce exclusive games; at the same time, the fact that many developers could complete games with very little need to produce additional content would allow even small developers to produce very fleshed out games.

Well, I think Nintendo knows what to do with the money. So far what the GC generation left was properly invested and turned out to be what people were looking for.

You shouldnt worry about what Nintendo has to do with the money, they are right now spending it on many wonderful things that will come in the future.

If money doesnt flow its dead money, and I dont think Nintendo is unaware of this if they came this far :)

 I'll argue with it. Donate the money to malarial relief instead. Malaria kills 2 million a year (vs AIDS's 3 million) but the difference is AIDS drugs costs $100 per person and Malaria drugs cost around 80 cents. Ergo, with the same amount of funding you can help a lot more people if you give to malaria.

 

Anyway, I say Nintendo invests in other companies. Buy 20% of Capcom, buy 10% of Toshiba, heck buy 5% of Intel or GE. That way in 20 years if Nintendo has a bad run in a paprticular generation it can continue to live off of it's investments and still pay the heating bills.
