ah, i see. so a worldwide $100 price cut, ps4's first price cut, the major factor in why i predicted these ridiculous sales, will only get the ps4 like two million more sales. the ps4 is already up year on year right after the japan launch while being at the same launch price of $400 and you seriously think this prediction is impossible? alrighty then penguinz you're the expert.

Well yes... I do think it's impossible, unless Sony starts handing out PS4's for free.  If you could explain in detail on how the PS4 will go from 14m to 22.5m  units sold in  a year in a constructive manner, then I might think your prediction has more plausibility. A price cut alone won't do that.

the wii sold 16.5 million in 2007 and sold 24 million in 2008 and i think the ps4 is getting a $100 price cut this year. literally the only explanation i feel like giving you right now

Doubt there will be a $100 price cut but if there is then maybe this could happen!

Got to remember the PS4 outpaced the Wii for over a year at $400 vs $250 do not underestimate the sales monster this machine is.

I wonder how much better Wii sales would've been in 2007 if they maintained a better chain of supply...

Not a very good comparison btw.

pretty decent comparison. ps4 kept up with the wii and surpassed it at one point while being $150 more expensive. ps4 had some supply constraints of it's own as well. ps4 also had to deal with the bone and it's ridiculous deals as well while the wii was going up against a $600 ps3 and $400 (not to sure what the price was) xbox 360. the wii also attracted a completely different market so all of these circumstances make this comparison even better.

I think this post actually proves why it's not a great comparison. Comparing different market and price conditions and trying to formulate that into a similar prediction for the PS4 based on the Wii seems a bit backwards.

not when the sales are so similar for ps4 and wii

If my math is right then you're predicting about a 70% YoY change in the holiday season? That seems rather high, even for PS4 standards.

70% YoY lift with a $100 price cut is doable. PS3 got a 75% boost for the same time period between '08 and '09.  But for those 3 months with a $100 price cut I think 10 million is more likely the max for PS4 this year. Of course I have underestimated PS4 sales a fair bit over the last year or so.

If you don;t think there will be a $100 price cut then you are right, a 70% is not going to happen with only a $50 price cut, which will surely be the least that happend this year for PS4.

if $100 price cut actually happen, I think there will be PS4 shortages all over again lol

A price cut seems a bit too soon for the PS4 right now considering it's success. At most I would expect $50 off and some bundles. To be fair we don't really know what to expect with the PS4 yet so anything could happen, especially since it's pretty early in the year and the holiday lineup is still a bit unclear.
